Is the 2023 Ford Bronco a good car?

Generally — the 2023 Ford Bronco earns a 4.27/5 user rating and an 8.00/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Performance, and Form and function.

Owners consistently praise its off-road capability, rugged design, and comfort, while also appreciating the feature set. Is the 2023 Ford Bronco reliable?

Owners rate it 4.27/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a vehicle that owners feel good about living with over time, especially because they value its ruggedness and the confidence it inspires in daily use. The expert evaluation also supports that impression by describing the Bronco as durable in character and well suited to demanding use. If you plan to keep one for the long haul, the main ownership risk is that its capability-focused design can bring higher running costs and less everyday practicality than a typical SUV.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Ford Bronco?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Base trim has a more bare-bones look, while higher trims add more distinctive styling and equipment. The safety package also matters because the Base model does not get the optional Mid package.
• Powertrain: You can choose a 2.3-litre four-cylinder, an optional 2.7-litre V6, or the Raptor’s 3.0-litre turbocharged V6. The four-cylinder is described as adequate, while the 2.7-litre V6 may suit the heavier four-door model better.
• Safety package: The standard suite includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, hill-start assist, hill-descent control, trailer-sway assist, and Trail Turn Assist. The optional Mid package adds blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts, lane-keep assist, rear parking proximity sensors, and automatic high beams, while the High and Luxe packages add more advanced features.
• Infotainment: Most Broncos come with an eight-inch touchscreen, while a 12-inch display is available and easier to use. Wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, Ford SYNC 4, and FordPass Connect are standard.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada estimates the four-cylinder engine at as little as 11.6 L/100 km combined and as high as 14.3 L/100 km, while the 2.7-litre V6 is rated between 12.0 and 14.1 L/100 km. The Raptor is estimated at 15.3 L/100 km.

Which 2023 Ford Bronco trim should I buy?

The 2023 Ford Bronco is offered in 9 trim levels: Base, Big Bend, Black Diamond, Bronco Outer Banks, Bronco Badlands, Heritage Edition, Bronco Wildtrak, Heritage Limited Edition, and Raptor.

Here's the short version:

• Base: This is the most affordable entry point, but it is the most stripped-back version and misses out on the optional Mid safety package. It makes sense if you want the Bronco experience at the lowest starting price and plan to add only what you need.
• Big Bend: This is a sensible step up if you want a more rounded daily driver without jumping too far up the price ladder. It should suit you if you want a Bronco that balances personality with broader usability.
• Black Diamond: This is the best-value trim if you want a strong middle ground between comfort and off-road focus. The source specifically points to it as a good compromise, especially if you plan to add the Sasquatch package for extra off-road upgrades.
• Bronco Outer Banks: Choose this if you want a more polished, style-forward Bronco without going all the way to the more specialised trims. It fits you best if appearance and everyday comfort matter as much as capability.
• Bronco Badlands: This is the better pick if you want a more capability-focused Bronco and are willing to pay for it. It suits buyers who care more about off-road hardware than basic commuting comfort.
• Heritage Edition: This trim leans into retro styling with a white grille, roof, wheels, and plaid seat upholstery. It is the one to choose if the nostalgic look is a major part of the appeal.
• Bronco Wildtrak: This is for buyers who want a more performance-oriented Bronco without going to the extreme of the Raptor. It should appeal if you want a stronger, more aggressive version of the formula.
• Heritage Limited Edition: This is the more capable take on the Heritage theme, so it suits you if you want the nostalgic styling with a stronger equipment story.
• Raptor: This is the top-end choice, with a wide stance, elevated height, and huge fender flares. It is the one to buy if you want the most extreme Bronco and are comfortable paying for overkill.

The optional Mid package is not available on the Base trim, and the High and Luxe packages add more advanced safety equipment on supporting trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Ford Bronco?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it rewards shoppers who compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 29.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 438 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.58% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $49,285 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Ford Bronco's resale value?

The current average of $49,495 CAD sits slightly below last year's $55,979 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you as a buyer today, but it also means a future seller may face more competition if the market stays loose. The Bronco’s strong enthusiast appeal should help support demand, especially for well-equipped or desirable trims. Even so, resale will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the vehicle has been maintained.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.27/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Ford Bronco safe?

The 2023 Ford Bronco earns four-star ratings in frontal crash protection and three-star ratings for rollover protection from NHTSA, while the IIHS awarded it Good scores in all crashworthiness tests except head restraints and seats, where it received Acceptable.

It earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.

All Bronco models come standard with forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, hill-start assist, hill-descent control, trailer-sway assist, and Trail Turn Assist. The optional Mid package adds blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts, lane-keep assist, rear parking proximity sensors, and automatic high beams. The High package adds front parking sensors and a 360-degree camera system, while the Luxe package adds adaptive cruise control and evasive steering assist.

The main caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard, so you need to move up the lineup or add packages to get a fuller driver-assistance suite.

Should I buy a 2023 Ford Bronco or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 29.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.58% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.27/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It offers nine distinct models and strong off-road capability with broad configuration choice.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $40,593 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $49,495 CAD average.
• It offers serious off-road ability with strong everyday drivability.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $53,365 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $49,495 CAD average.
• It adds a standard 12-inch Sync 4 infotainment system.

The bottom line: If you want the broadest mix of trims, strong owner satisfaction, and a softer market than last year, the 2023 is the best all-around choice. If price is your top priority, the 2022 is the smarter value play, while the 2024 makes sense if you want the newer infotainment update and are willing to pay more.
