What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Nissan Rogue?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base S is the most stripped-down version, while the SL and Platinum add LED foglamps and more upscale cabin and technology content. If you want the best balance, the SL is the trim that most clearly hits the sweet spot.
• Powertrain: You’re looking at a 1.5-litre VC-Turbo inline three-cylinder engine with 201 horsepower and 225 lb-ft of torque. It uses a CVT with wider gear ratios than before, and the AWD system is standard on higher trims but adds cost on lower trims.
• Safety package: Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard across all trim levels and includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, high beam assist, and rear automatic braking. Blind spot intervention and traffic sign recognition are available, and ProPilot Assist adds steering assist and adaptive cruise control.
• Infotainment: Lower trims get a 7-inch centre display, while upper trims add a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, a 9-inch centre touchscreen, and a 10.8-inch head-up display. Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto are standard, and wireless Apple CarPlay is available on upper trim levels.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada estimates consumption as low as 7.8 L/100 km city, 6.5 highway, and 7.2 combined, or 8.4 city, 6.7 highway, and 7.6 combined with AWD.

Which 2022 Nissan Rogue trim should I buy?

The 2022 Nissan Rogue is offered in 5 trim levels: S, SV, SV Premium, SL, Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Rogue’s core safety suite and updated mechanical package at the lowest price. It makes sense if you want the newest Rogue experience without paying for extra screens or luxury features.
• SV: This is the first step up and a sensible choice if you want more equipment without jumping too far in price. It adds value for shoppers who want a better-equipped daily driver.
• SV Premium: This trim adds more comfort and convenience content for buyers who want a richer feel without going all the way to the top trims.
• SL: This is the best-value trim. It brings the 9-inch infotainment display with navigation, wireless CarPlay, and ProPilot Assist with Navi-Link, while avoiding the cost of the most premium extras.
• Platinum: Choose this if you want the most upscale Rogue, including the digital dashboard, Bose premium audio system, wireless charging, and semi-aniline leather.

The safety package is standard across all trim levels, so you do not need to move up the range just to get Nissan Safety Shield 360.

Should I buy a 2022 Nissan Rogue or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 26.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.22% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds the new 1.5-litre turbo engine and wider-ratio CVT for stronger performance and better efficiency.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $21,462 CAD, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $23,013 CAD average.
• It delivers the redesigned Rogue’s core upgrades at a lower price.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $26,747 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $23,013 CAD average.
• It adds a Midnight Edition package for a darker exterior look.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of updated hardware, efficiency, and value, the 2022 is the strongest all-around pick. If your priority is saving money, the 2021 is the better budget route, while the 2023 makes sense only if you specifically want the newer appearance package.
