What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Nissan Rogue?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base S is the most stripped-down version, while higher trims add more convenience and luxury features. The SL and Platinum trims also bring LED foglamps, and upper trims gain the larger digital instrument panel.
• Powertrain: You get a 1.5-litre VC-Turbo inline three-cylinder engine with 201 horsepower and 225 lb-ft of torque. It is paired with a new CVT, and all-wheel drive is available.
• Safety package: Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard across all trim levels. It includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, high beam assist, and rear automatic braking. ProPilot Assist is available, and ProPilot Assist with Navi-Link adds navigation-linked predictive speed control.
• Infotainment: Upper trims get a 9-inch centre touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, and a 10.8-inch head-up display. Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto are standard, and wireless Apple CarPlay is available on upper trim levels.

Which 2022 Nissan Rogue trim should I buy?

The 2022 Nissan Rogue is offered in 5 trim levels: S, SV, SV Premium, SL, Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Rogue’s core efficiency, safety, and space without paying for extras.
• SV: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more equipment while staying below the higher-priced luxury-leaning versions.
• SV Premium: Choose this if you want a step up in comfort and convenience without jumping all the way to the top trims.
• SL: This is the sweet spot in the lineup, with the 9-inch infotainment display, navigation, wireless CarPlay, and ProPilot Assist with Navi-Link.
• Platinum: Pick this if you want the most upscale Rogue, including the digital dashboard, Bose premium audio, wireless charging, and semi-aniline leather.

Safety Shield 360 is standard across all trims, so even the base model gets the core driver-assistance suite.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Nissan Rogue?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 26.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 989 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.27% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $22,271 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Nissan Rogue's resale value?

The current average of $22,271 CAD sits slightly below last year's $26,600 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favourable point, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if the market stays soft. For a seller, the current trend suggests you may need to price competitively to move the vehicle quickly.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Nissan Rogue safe?

The 2022 Nissan Rogue received a four-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) and a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard across all trim levels, and it includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, high beam assist, and rear automatic braking. The Rogue also includes ten supplemental airbags, extended crumple zones, Nissan’s Intelligent Driver Alertness technology, and rear door alert.

ProPilot Assist adds hands-on steering assist and adaptive cruise control, while ProPilot Assist with Navi-Link adds navigation-linked predictive speed control. That said, the four-star NHTSA result is a reminder that it is not the class benchmark in every crash-test measure.

Should I buy a 2022 Nissan Rogue or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 26.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.27% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 adds a new 1.5-litre turbo engine and improved fuel efficiency.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $20,997 CAD, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $22,271 CAD average.
• It offers a redesigned platform and strong value across the range.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $26,266 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $22,271 CAD average.
• It adds a Midnight Edition package for the SV trim.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the best all-around choice if you want the newer engine and strong efficiency without paying 2023 pricing. If your budget is tighter, the 2021 remains the value play, while the 2023 makes sense if you want the newer appearance package and can spend more.

How does the 2022 Nissan Rogue compare to the 2022 Mazda CX-5?

Our experts score the 2022 Nissan Rogue 7.8/10 and the 2022 Mazda CX-5 7.7/10.
