What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup spans coupe, convertible, sedan, and station wagon body styles, and the base E350 sedan is described as more understated than higher-spec versions. The AMG E53 Cabriolet stands out for its premium leather, carbon fibre trim, matte-finish paint, and more dramatic styling, while the base E450 convertible is described as less engaging and less sporty when the road gets twisty.
• Powertrain: E350 sedans use a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, while E450 variants use a turbo 3.0-litre inline-six with EQ Boost 48-volt mild-hybrid technology. AMG E53 models use a more powerful version of the E450 4MATIC engine, with 429 horsepower and 384 lb-ft of torque in the tested Cabriolet.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, pop-up rollbars on the Cabriolet, Mercedes Pre Safe, and Pre Safe Sound. The extra-cost Driver Assistance Package adds adaptive cruise control with Active Speed Limit Assist, Active Steering Assist, front automatic braking for cross traffic, Evasive Steering Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, Active Emergency Stop Assist, and Pre Safe Plus.
• Infotainment: MBUX uses two 12.3-inch screens, including a touchscreen and digital instrument cluster. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, while Wi-Fi service and augmented reality navigation are upgrades. A head-up display is also available.
• Fuel efficiency: No fuel-consumption figure is stated in the provided data.

Which 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class trim should I buy?

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is offered in 4 trim levels: E350, E450, AMG E53, and AMG E53 Cabriolet.

Here's the short version:

• E350: This is the entry point and suits you if you want the E-Class experience with the least complexity. It brings the core luxury-car formula, but it is the most restrained choice in the range.
• E450: This is the best-value trim if you want the stronger turbo 3.0-litre inline-six and EQ Boost mild-hybrid setup without stepping into AMG pricing. It should be the sweet spot for shoppers who want more performance and refinement.
• AMG E53: Choose this if you want the sharper AMG character, stronger acceleration, and more dynamic driving feel. It adds the performance-focused hardware and personality that make the E-Class more engaging.
• AMG E53 Cabriolet: This is the most expressive choice, especially if you want open-air luxury with the richest visual and sensory experience. It suits you best if style and top-down driving matter more than value.

The Driver Assistance Package is the key safety-package upgrade to look for if you want the fullest set of driver aids.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 67 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.21% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $53,574 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class's resale value?

The current average of $54,906 CAD sits slightly below last year's $61,839 CAD.

That price decline suggests future sellers may face a softer market than owners did a year ago. If you buy now, you may benefit from the lower entry price, but you should also expect resale values to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

The extra-cost Driver Assistance Package is the main safety upgrade to look for, especially if you want the most complete set of driver aids.

Should I buy a 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.21% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 lineup drops the E63 and E63 S AMG models, leaving a more focused range of turbocharged four-cylinder and six-cylinder options.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $59,683 CAD, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $54,906 CAD average.
• It offers four body styles and four engines.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the better starting point if you want the lower average price and a more stable, lightly changed lineup. If you are shopping on a tighter budget and want broader configurability, the 2021 can still make sense, but you will likely pay more for it.
