How much does the 2021 Toyota Tundra cost?

Prices have softened 7.74% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 97 listings available, which suggests a modest amount of inventory for you to compare.

Is the 2021 Toyota Tundra a good car?

Yes — you’re looking at a 4.55/5 user-rated truck with an expert rating of 7.33/10. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise the Tundra’s spaciousness, powerful performance, and reliability. The smooth ride and comfort features also come up often, along with the truck’s simple, quality construction. If you want a full-size pickup that focuses on core truck duties rather than chasing the newest cabin gimmicks, this model year fits that brief well.

The current market also shows 35.1% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Toyota Tundra reliable?

Owners rate it 4.55/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback repeatedly points to reliability, dependability, and a truck that owners feel they can count on over time. The expert assessment also frames this generation as a proven, long-running design that Toyota has kept relevant with updates, which supports the case for durability. Toyota’s standard safety and infotainment updates help the truck feel less dated, but the underlying platform is still an older one, so you should pay close attention to maintenance history and overall wear on any used example.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Toyota Tundra?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Double Cab includes standard 18-inch alloy wheels, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, power-adjustable heated side mirrors, and heated front seats. Higher trims and packages add features such as blacked-out styling, unique badging, chrome or memory mirrors, heated and ventilated front seats, and upgraded upholstery, so you should check whether the truck you’re considering has the equipment you want.
• Powertrain: You get a standard 5.7-litre V8 with 391 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and standard four-wheel drive with low range in Canada. It’s strong and confident, but it is not the most fuel-efficient setup.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense P is standard, with forward-collision warning and avoidance, pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, automatic high beams, and adaptive cruise control. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and parking sensors are optional, so check whether a used truck has those extras.
• Infotainment: The standard setup uses an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, Bluetooth connectivity, multiple USB ports, and available navigation. The layout is straightforward and includes hard buttons, which makes it easy to use.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada ratings are 18.0 L/100 km in the city, 14.2 L/100 km on the highway, and 16.3 L/100 km combined. In mixed driving, the observed average was 17.0 L/100 km.

Which 2021 Toyota Tundra trim should I buy?

The 2021 Toyota Tundra is offered in 4 trim levels: Double Cab, CrewMax SR5, CrewMax Platinum, and 1794 Edition.

Here's the short version:

• Double Cab: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Tundra formula with standard heated front seats, heated mirrors, an 8-inch touchscreen, and the basic safety suite. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model and don’t need the extra comfort or appearance upgrades.
• CrewMax SR5: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds the roomier CrewMax body style while staying below the more expensive luxury-oriented trims. If you want a practical family-and-work truck with the broadest everyday appeal, this is the one to focus on.
• CrewMax Platinum: This trim adds a more upscale feel with chrome, heated, power-folding, memory mirrors, heated and ventilated front seats, embroidered leather seatback upholstery, and a 10-way adjustable driver’s seat with memory. It suits you if comfort and convenience matter more than keeping the budget tight.
• 1794 Edition: This version largely mirrors the Platinum’s content but adds unique visual and interior touches, including a leather and woodgrain wrapped steering wheel and shift knob. Choose it if you want the most distinctive cabin presentation.

Toyota Safety Sense P is standard across the lineup, while blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert remain optional.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Toyota Tundra?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 35.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 97 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.74% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $46,415 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Toyota Tundra's resale value?

The current average of $46,822 CAD sits slightly below last year's $50,752 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you as a buyer today, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive market if values continue to ease. The Tundra’s long-standing reputation for reliability and owner satisfaction should help support demand, especially among shoppers who want a proven full-size pickup. Even so, resale will likely depend on condition, mileage, and whether the truck has desirable equipment, since newer rivals offer more modern features.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.55/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Toyota Tundra safe?

The 2021 Toyota Tundra earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense P is standard, and it includes forward-collision warning and avoidance, pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, automatic high beams, and adaptive cruise control. Every Tundra also comes with eight airbags, a tire pressure monitoring system, and a tow package with a heavy-duty hitch receiver and transmission cooler. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and parking sensors are optional, so you should confirm whether a used truck has those features if they matter to you.

Should I buy a 2021 Toyota Tundra or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 35.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.74% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.55/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It keeps the proven old-school truck formula while adding modern infotainment and standard safety tech.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $45,117 CAD, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $46,822 CAD average.
• It leans heavily on long-term reliability and durability.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $47,130 CAD, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $46,822 CAD average.
• It brings a fully redesigned truck with broader updates across the lineup.

The bottom line: If you want the proven second-generation Tundra with updated tech and a softer used-market price, the 2021 is the sensible pick. If your priority is saving money, the 2020 is worth a look; if you want the newest design and can spend more, the 2022 is the better long-term alternative.
