What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Ford Bronco Sport?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Base trim is the most stripped-down version, while higher trims add more comfort and convenience. The cabin also steps up from cloth seats to leather-trimmed, heated sport-contour bucket seats, so you should check whether the equipment level matches what you want.
• Powertrain: The 1.5-litre EcoBoost turbocharged three-cylinder engine makes 181 horsepower and 190 pound-feet of torque in Base, Big Bend, and Outer Banks trims, while the Badlands uses a 2.0-litre EcoBoost turbo four-cylinder with 245 hp and 275 lb-ft. The 2.0-litre setup is described as the better match for the Bronco Sport’s character.
• Safety package: Every trim gets Ford Co-Pilot360, which includes pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, forward collision warning and dynamic brake support, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping assist, auto high-beam headlamps, and a reversing camera. Co-Pilot360 Assist+ is available on all trims except Base, and road-sign recognition is not available on Big Bend.
• Infotainment: You get an 8-inch touchscreen with SYNC 3, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and FordPass Connect with a subscription-based 4G LTE WiFi hotspot. Intelligent access with push-button start is included on all trims except Base.
• Fuel efficiency: The owner feedback highlights good fuel economy, and the expert notes also describe the Bronco Sport as a sensible commuter and family hauler for most of its life.

Which 2021 Ford Bronco Sport trim should I buy?

The 2021 Ford Bronco Sport is offered in 4 trim levels: Bronco Sport Base, Bronco Sport Big Bend, Bronco Sport Outer Banks, and Ford Bronco Sport Badlands.

Here's the short version:

• Bronco Sport Base: This is the entry point, but it still gets the core safety suite and the same basic Bronco Sport personality. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model and can live without the extra convenience features found higher up.
• Bronco Sport Big Bend: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more everyday usability without jumping to the pricier upper trims. It keeps the 1.5-litre engine and adds a more polished feel than Base.
• Bronco Sport Outer Banks: This trim leans more toward comfort and appearance, with upgraded wheels and more available convenience and audio equipment. It suits you if you want a nicer cabin and more premium touches.
• Ford Bronco Sport Badlands: This is the most capability-focused version, with the 2.0-litre engine, advanced 4x4 hardware, all-terrain tyres, seven G.O.A.T. modes, Trail Control, and metal bash plates. It’s the one to choose if off-road use matters most.

Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist+ is available on all trims except Base, and road-sign recognition is not available on Big Bend.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Ford Bronco Sport?

• Deal availability: 28.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 312 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.43% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $22,627 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Ford Bronco Sport's resale value?

The current average of $22,627 CAD sits slightly below last year's $26,755 CAD.

That price movement suggests the model has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price today. If you pay close to the current average, your resale upside may be more limited than if you find a lower-priced example. Strong demand from shoppers who like the Bronco Sport’s style and capability should still help support used-market interest.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.1/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Ford Bronco Sport safe?

The 2021 Ford Bronco Sport earns the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ rating and a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, along with a four-star rating for rollover resistance.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Every trim comes standard with Ford Co-Pilot360, which includes pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, forward collision warning and dynamic brake support, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping assist, auto high-beam headlamps, and a reversing camera. Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist+ is available on all trims except Base, and it adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane centring, evasive steering assist, voice-activated touchscreen navigation, SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link, and road-sign recognition, though road-sign recognition is not available on Big Bend.

Should I buy a 2021 Ford Bronco Sport or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 28.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.43% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.1/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 model stands out for its lively, capable, and attractive character, with strong on- and off-pavement appeal.

The bottom line: If you want the Bronco Sport’s original appeal at a lower used price, the 2021 is a sensible place to start. If you’re especially price-sensitive, focus on the best-equipped examples in the current market and compare them carefully against newer model years before deciding.
