Used 2020 Toyota Highlander for Sale nearNorth Vancouver, BC

How much does the 2020 Toyota Highlander cost?

Prices have softened 9.69% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 245 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 Toyota Highlander a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Toyota Highlander earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 7.17/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its smooth ride, advanced features, and spacious interior, and many also highlight its safety equipment and family-friendly usefulness. The expert review reinforces that appeal by describing the Highlander as calm, refined, and exceptionally quiet on the road, with a cosseting cabin and a premium feel in the upper trims.

The trade-offs are clear, though: the styling is uninspired and the handling is poor. That makes it a better fit if you want comfort, space, and an easygoing daily driver than if you want something sharp or sporty.

With its three-row layout and comfort-first character, it suits you best if you value a relaxed family SUV over driving excitement. There are 27.3% good or great deals in the market, which is a decent sign that value-minded shoppers can still find worthwhile listings.

Is the 2020 Toyota Highlander reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable, with many drivers describing it as a favourite for families thanks to its smooth ride, advanced features, and overall confidence-inspiring character. The expert review also supports that impression by emphasising the Highlander’s calm, quiet operation and its ability to deliver a relaxed, low-stress driving experience over time.

Toyota’s standard safety equipment and the model’s strong expert score also help reinforce the sense that this is a vehicle you can count on. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about durability and more about living with its soft handling and some interior comfort complaints.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Toyota Highlander?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The L trim gets projector-beam LED headlights and an 8-inch touchscreen, while higher trims add prettier LED running lamps, larger 20-inch alloy wheels, and a more detailed cabin presentation. The upper trims also feel more premium overall, with the Limited and Platinum standing out most clearly.
• Powertrain: You get a 3.5-litre V6 with either FWD or AWD. It is smooth, quiet, and brisk without feeling strained, but the steering is loose and the suspension is soft with too much rebound.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard, with automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection and cyclist detection, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, parking sensors, and rear emergency braking are optional.
• Infotainment: The standard screen is 8 inches, and the Platinum gets a 12.3-inch touchscreen, though usable screen space is still limited. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and the system also includes WiFi, four USB-A ports, and available navigation-related connected features.
• Fuel efficiency: The Highlander L FWD is rated at 11.9 L/100 km city, 8.3 highway, and 10.3 combined. With AWD, it is rated at 11.7 L/100 km city, 8.6 highway, and 10.3 combined.

Which 2020 Toyota Highlander trim should I buy?

The 2020 Toyota Highlander is offered in 5 trim levels: L, LE, XLE, Limited, Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• L: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Highlander experience with the standard safety suite, projector-beam LED headlights, and the 8-inch touchscreen. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model, but it is the least richly equipped.
• LE: This trim adds useful everyday equipment over the L and is a sensible step up if you want a better balance of value and convenience without jumping too far in price.
• XLE: This is the best-value trim. It is identified as the sweet spot in the lineup and gives you the strongest mix of equipment and price for most shoppers.
• Limited: This trim is where the Highlander starts to feel notably more premium, with richer cabin materials and the more upscale character that the model is known for.
• Platinum: This is the most luxurious version, with the 12.3-inch touchscreen, a 10-inch head-up display, a 7-inch instrument display, and the most complete technology package.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard across the lineup, while blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, parking sensors, and rear emergency braking remain optional.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Toyota Highlander?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully rather than rush.

• Deal availability: 27.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 245 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.69% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $34,056 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Toyota Highlander's resale value?

The current average of $34,631 CAD sits slightly below last year's $38,346 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favourable point in the cycle. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim rather than on broad market momentum alone.

The good news is that the Highlander’s strong reputation for comfort and family appeal should keep demand steady. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Toyota Highlander safe?

The 2020 Highlander earns a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick designation from IIHS.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard, and it includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection and cyclist detection, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams. A driver's knee airbag and a special cushion airbag for the front passenger are also standard.

Some useful safety equipment remains optional, including blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, parking sensors, and rear emergency braking. That means you should check the exact trim and option content carefully if you want the fullest safety package.

Should I buy a 2020 Toyota Highlander or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 27.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.69% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It was redesigned for 2020 and brings a calmer, more premium-feeling cabin.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $38,547 CAD, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $34,631 CAD average.
• It adds more standard safety technology.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2020 is the smarter buy because pricing has softened and the model already delivers the comfort and safety strengths most shoppers want. If you are willing to pay more for added standard safety technology, the 2021 is the better secondary path.
