Used 2020 Subaru Outback for Sale nearKamloops, BC

How much does the 2020 Subaru Outback cost?

Prices have softened 15.84% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 215 listings available, which gives you a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 Subaru Outback a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Subaru Outback earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its comfort, spacious cabin, and smooth ride, and they also highlight its strong safety feel and dependable everyday usefulness. The overview points to the same appeal: standard all-wheel drive, strong value for money, and a roomy interior make it especially well suited to practical buyers who want a versatile family vehicle. The main trade-offs are a sluggish touchscreen response and an underwhelming base engine, which can matter if you value quick tech or stronger acceleration. Even so, the market still shows healthy interest, with 35.8% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2020 Subaru Outback reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a reliable, dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with many drivers describing it as a vehicle they can count on for daily use and long-term practicality. The expert notes reinforce that impression by emphasising Subaru’s all-time symmetrical all-wheel drive system and its consistent power delivery, which helps the Outback feel secure in poor weather and on rougher roads. The cost-effectiveness commentary also suggests broad appeal across the lineup, which can support confidence in ownership. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is more about tech frustrations than core durability, so you should pay close attention to how the infotainment and driver-assist systems behave on a test drive.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Subaru Outback?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Convenience trim is noticeably spartan compared with higher trims, since it uses dual 7-inch screens instead of the 11.6-inch touchscreen found above it. It still includes heated front seats, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, keyless entry, LED headlights, automatic climate control, and a strong safety suite, but you should decide whether the simpler cabin is enough for you.
• Powertrain: The standard 2.5-litre engine makes 182 horsepower and is tuned for everyday use, while XT trims add a 2.4-litre turbocharged engine with 260 hp and 277 pound-feet of torque. The standard engine is efficient enough for most situations, but the turbo is the better fit if you want stronger passing, towing, or mountain driving.
• Safety package: Subaru’s EyeSight suite is standard and includes adaptive cruise control with forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and lane departure alert with lane-keep assist. Higher trims add blind-spot monitoring and reverse auto braking, so check carefully if those features matter to you.
• Infotainment: Most trims get the 11.6-inch touchscreen, while the base trim uses dual 7-inch screens. Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Bluetooth are included, but the system is known for lag, so make sure the response speed works for you.
• Fuel efficiency: The 2.5-litre engine is rated at 9.0 L/100 km in the city, 7.1 L/100 km on the highway, and 8.2 L/100 km combined.

Which 2020 Subaru Outback trim should I buy?

The 2020 Subaru Outback is offered in 7 trim levels: Convenience, Touring, Limited, Premier, Outdoor XT, Limited XT, and Premier XT.

Here's the short version:

• Convenience: This is the value-focused starting point, and it already gives you heated front seats, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, keyless entry, LED headlights, automatic climate control, and the core safety suite. It makes sense if you want the Outback’s fundamentals without paying for the larger screen or extra comfort features.
• Touring: This is the first trim where the 11.6-inch touchscreen appears, along with dual-zone automatic climate control, a sunroof, a power liftgate, reverse auto braking, and blind-spot monitoring. It looks like the best-value upgrade if you want the Outback to feel properly equipped.
• Limited: This trim adds a memory system for the driver, an upgraded Harman Kardon stereo, leather upholstery, navigation, and a heated steering wheel. It suits you if you want a more premium daily driver without jumping all the way to the top trims.
• Premier: This is the comfort-oriented choice, with upgraded Nappa leather and ventilated front seats. It is the right pick if you want the most luxurious non-turbo Outback.
• Outdoor XT: This trim combines the Limited’s equipment with the turbo engine, heated rear seats, a front-view camera, hill-descent control, and a more aggressive version of X-Mode. It is the one to choose if you want the most capability-focused Outback.
• Limited XT: This trim follows the Limited recipe but adds the turbocharged engine, giving you a stronger powertrain with the same upscale features.
• Premier XT: This is the top-end comfort-and-power choice, pairing the Premier’s luxury features with the turbo engine.

Blind-spot monitoring is not standard on the Touring trim, so check the equipment list carefully if that matters to you.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Subaru Outback?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully and compare listings.

• Deal availability: 35.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 215 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.84% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $22,861 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Subaru Outback's resale value?

The current average of $22,861 CAD sits slightly below last year's $27,163 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the Outback more attractive to used buyers today. For a future seller, that means resale value may depend more on condition, trim, and equipment than on broad market momentum. Well-equipped trims and clean service history should help you stand out if you decide to sell later.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Subaru Outback safe?

The 2020 Subaru Outback earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard safety suite is a major strength, with EyeSight bringing adaptive cruise control with forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure alert, and lane-keep assist. Subaru also makes standard all-wheel drive part of the safety story, since it helps the Outback feel secure in poor weather and on slippery roads. The main caveat is that EyeSight can be sensitive to weather and sunlight, and DriverFocus is described as frustrating and overly intrusive. Higher trims add blind-spot monitoring and reverse auto braking, so safety equipment does improve as you move up the lineup.

Should I buy a 2020 Subaru Outback or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 35.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.84% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings a new tablet-style cabin, updated safety tech, and fresh engine choices.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $25,828 CAD, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $22,861 CAD average.
• It leans harder into practicality, reliability, and everyday usefulness.

The bottom line: The 2020 is the better value if you want the newer cabin and lower pricing, especially if you can find a well-equipped trim. If you are more price-sensitive and mainly want the Outback’s core strengths, the 2021 is worth considering, but you will pay more for it.

How does the 2020 Subaru Outback compare to the 2020 Toyota RAV4?

Our experts score the 2020 Subaru Outback 7.7/10 and the 2020 Toyota RAV4 8.7/10. The RAV4 has the stronger overall expert score, more listings, and a higher average used price, while the Outback offers better deal availability and a lower entry price. If you want the more affordable option with standard all-wheel drive and a wagon-like feel, the Outback is compelling; if you want the stronger all-around score and more market supply, the RAV4 has the edge.
