How much does the 2020 Lexus RX cost?

Prices have softened 7.44% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 91 listings available, which gives you a decent amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 Lexus RX a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Lexus RX earns a 4.9/5 user rating and an 8.2/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Cost effectiveness.

Owners consistently praise its luxury feel, comfort, quiet cabin, and reliability. The RX also stands out for its smooth ride and spacious interior, which suit you well if you want a refined midsize luxury SUV for daily driving and family use.

The main trade-offs are its unintuitive technology and some cabin noise at moderate speeds. The RX’s use case is strongest if you value comfort and refinement over a simple infotainment experience.

With 40.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s a healthy share of attractive pricing in the market.

Is the 2020 Lexus RX reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Drivers describe it as reliable, comfortable, and dependable, with a reputation for being a vehicle you can count on over time. The expert assessment also points to the RX’s calm, polished driving character and its strong day-to-day usability.

Lexus also includes a three-year subscription to Lexus Enform Safety Connect and a 10-year subscription to Enform Service Connect. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that some connected services and technology features may be less dependable or less intuitive than the rest of the vehicle.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Lexus RX?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The RX’s cabin is well appointed across the range, with heated and ventilated front seats, heated outboard second-row seats, a heated steering wheel, and heated exterior mirrors standard on all models. If you want more visual flair, the F Sport appearance packages add unique interior and exterior touches, but the base setup already covers the core comfort features.
• Powertrain: The standard RX 350 uses a 3.5-litre V6 with an eight-speed automatic and standard all-wheel drive in Canada. The hybrid RX 450h adds an electric motor for stronger efficiency, while the RX 450h L uses the same hybrid setup in the three-row body style.
• Safety package: Lexus Safety System+ 2.0 is standard, with adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, a backup camera, daytime bicyclist detection, low-light pedestrian detection, road-sign assist, and lane-tracing assist. Every RX gets this suite, so there are no trim-level gaps to worry about here.
• Infotainment: The standard display is 8.0 inches, with an available 12.3-inch touchscreen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and the system also includes Bluetooth plus compatibility with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, Spotify, Pandora, Google Maps, Waze, Apple Music, Apple Maps, SiriusXM satellite radio, and WhatsApp.
• Fuel efficiency: The RX 350 is rated at 10.8 L/100 km combined, while the RX 350 L is rated at 11.1 L/100 km combined. The RX 450h uses 7.9 L/100 km combined, and the RX 450h L is rated at 8.1 L/100 km combined.

Which 2020 Lexus RX trim should I buy?

The 2020 Lexus RX is offered in 4 trim levels: RX 350, RX 350 L, RX 450h, RX 450h L.

Here's the short version:

• RX 350: This is the best-value choice if you want the core RX experience with the standard V6, standard all-wheel drive, and the comfort-focused setup that defines the model. It gives you the strongest balance of price, equipment, and everyday usability.
• RX 350 L: Choose this if you need the three-row layout and want the extra passenger flexibility of the RX-L body style. It suits you best if occasional third-row use matters more than maximum efficiency.
• RX 450h: This is the pick if fuel efficiency is a priority and you want the hybrid powertrain without moving to the longer body style. It keeps the RX’s comfort-first character while improving consumption.
• RX 450h L: Go here only if you want both the hybrid system and the three-row layout. It’s the most specialised version, so it makes the most sense if you need the extra seating and value efficiency.

Lexus Safety System+ 2.0 is standard across the range, so safety equipment does not force you into a higher trim.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Lexus RX?

It looks like a buyer-friendly market right now.

• Deal availability: 40.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 91 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.44% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $38,122 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Lexus RX's resale value?

The current average of $38,122 CAD sits slightly below last year's $41,187 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the RX has become a bit easier to buy, which can also mean future sellers may need to be more competitive when they list. If you buy at the right price now, you may have less downside risk than someone who paid closer to last year’s average.

The RX still benefits from strong owner satisfaction and a reputation for comfort and reliability, both of which help support demand in the used market. For a future seller, that means well-kept examples should remain appealing, especially if they’re priced in line with market trends.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Lexus RX safe?

The 2020 Lexus RX has received good safety ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) as the result of crash tests.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Lexus Safety System+ 2.0 is standard, and it includes adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, a backup camera, daytime bicyclist detection, low-light pedestrian detection, road-sign assist, and lane-tracing assist. Lexus also gives every RX a three-year subscription to Lexus Enform Safety Connect and a 10-year subscription to Enform Service Connect.

One caveat is that Enform Safety Connect did not always connect reliably during testing, so you should not assume every connected-service feature will work flawlessly in every situation.

Should I buy a 2020 Lexus RX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 40.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.44% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 brings a refreshed look, standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Lexus Safety System+ 2.0 with added driver-assistance features.

The bottom line: If you want a comfortable, quiet, and well-equipped luxury SUV with strong owner satisfaction, the 2020 RX is a solid choice. If you’re shopping mainly on price, this model year’s softer market and healthy inventory make it a sensible time to buy; if you want the newest tech or a different powertrain layout, a nearby year may be worth comparing.

How does the 2020 Lexus RX compare to the 2021 Toyota Venza?

Our experts score the 2020 Lexus RX 8.2/10 and the 2021 Toyota Venza 8.3/10.

The RX is the more premium-feeling choice, with a stronger luxury focus, a quieter cabin, and the option of a three-row layout. The Venza counters with a lower average used price and better fuel economy, so it may suit you better if efficiency and value matter more than luxury ambience.
