Used 2020 Hyundai Kona for Sale nearLondon, ON

How much does the 2020 Hyundai Kona cost?

Prices have softened 14.28% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 319 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 Hyundai Kona a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Hyundai Kona earns a 4.68/5 from owners and a 6.83/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

Drivers consistently praise its fun driving experience, responsive handling, stylish design, and good features. In use, that means you get a small crossover that feels lively and engaging rather than plain.

The trade-offs are clear: it is cramped, the interior quality disappoints, and cargo space is limited. That makes it a better fit if you value driving enjoyment and a higher seating position more than roominess or outright value.

With 33.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some market opportunity if you shop carefully.

Is the 2020 Hyundai Kona reliable?

Owners rate it 4.68/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with drivers highlighting the Kona as a car they can count on over time. The expert road test also describes the drivetrain and chassis as confident and well sorted, which supports that impression of durability.

Hyundai’s maintenance and ownership reputation can help, but used buyers should still watch for wear items and verify service history carefully.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Hyundai Kona?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base model gets a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, proximity entry, heated front seats, and heated side mirrors, while higher trims add a sunroof, adaptive cruise control, and an 8-inch touchscreen with navigation. The midpack Trend is the best-value choice because it adds the turbo engine and standard AWD.
• Powertrain: The 1.6-litre turbocharged engine delivers 175 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and standard AWD. Lower trims use a 2.0-litre engine with a 6-speed automatic, and FWD is standard on the entry grades.
• Safety package: The Kona includes lane-keep assist and a driver attention monitor, and the available safety suite also brings forward emergency braking. Pedestrian detection is only on the Ultimate, and some competitors offer more airbags.
• Infotainment: Base models get a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while the Ultimate adds an 8-inch touchscreen with navigation. Wireless smartphone integration and OTA capability are not mentioned.
• Fuel efficiency: The 1.6T AWD is rated at 9.0 L/100 km city, 8.0 highway, and 8.6 combined. The 2.0 AWD returns 9.2 city, 7.8 highway, and 8.6 combined, while FWD can be as low as 7.9 combined.

Which 2020 Hyundai Kona trim should I buy?

The 2020 Hyundai Kona is offered in 4 trim levels: Essential, Preferred, Trend, Luxury.

Here's the short version:

• Essential: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Kona experience with the standard infotainment and comfort features. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and can live without the turbo engine or extra convenience equipment.
• Preferred: This trim adds more everyday comfort and convenience, making it a sensible step up if you want a better-equipped Kona without jumping to the pricier turbo models.
• Trend: This is the best-value trim because it brings the 1.6-litre turbo engine, standard AWD, and the equipment most drivers will want. If you care most about the Kona’s fun-to-drive character, this is the one to target.
• Luxury: This trim adds more premium equipment, including a sunroof and adaptive cruise control. It suits you if you want a more upscale small crossover and are willing to pay more for it.

The safety package includes lane-keep assist, a driver attention monitor, and forward emergency braking, with pedestrian detection reserved for the Ultimate.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Hyundai Kona?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it pays to compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 33.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 319 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.28% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $17,588 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Hyundai Kona's resale value?

The current average of $17,589 CAD sits slightly below last year's $20,521 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the Kona has become more accessible for used buyers, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive market. If you buy now, you may benefit from the lower entry price, but resale gains are likely to depend on condition, trim, and mileage more than on broad market appreciation.

Because the Kona is still attracting shoppers who want style and a fun drive, well-kept examples should remain easier to move than neglected ones. The strongest resale prospects will likely be for trims with the turbo engine and desirable equipment.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.68/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Hyundai Kona safe?

The 2020 Kona scored five-star overall ratings from NHTSA, with five-star ratings for driver and passenger in the frontal test and for driver and rear passenger in the side test, plus a four-star rollover rating.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The Kona also earned a 2020 Top Safety Pick from IIHS for its Good crash-test results, optional LED headlights, and Superior forward emergency braking performance. Standard safety equipment includes forward emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and a driver attention monitor.

One caveat is that pedestrian detection is only available on the Ultimate, and the Kona does not include front knee airbags or rear side airbags.

Should I buy a 2020 Hyundai Kona or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 33.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.28% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.68/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds more standard driver assists and keeps the Kona’s lively, stylish character.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $19,196 CAD, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $17,589 CAD average.
• It adds more trims and broadens the lineup for shoppers wanting more choice.

The bottom line: If you want the better bargain, the 2020 is the smarter buy because prices are softer and owner satisfaction is strong. If you want a wider trim range and are willing to pay more, the 2021 is the better path.
