Is the 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 a good car?

Generally — the 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 earns a 4.3/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners commonly praise the spacious interior, advanced technology, strong performance, smooth ride, and the range of options available. In practical terms, that fits a full-size pickup that aims to feel upscale while still serving buyers who want capability, connectivity, and a broad trim range. The market also shows 34.7% of listings as good or great deals, which suggests there are worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also highlights reliability-minded strengths such as dependable performance and a truck many buyers feel good about keeping for the long term. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is finding a truck with incomplete maintenance history or unresolved mechanical issues.

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be choosy without expecting deep-fire-sale conditions.

• Deal availability: 34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 531 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.98% compared with last year.

What is the 2020 GMC Sierra 1500's resale value?

The current average of $36,562 CAD sits slightly below last year's $43,005 CAD.

That drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price, you reduce the risk of taking a bigger depreciation hit later. Strong demand for well-kept trucks should still support values, especially for examples with desirable equipment and clean histories.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.98% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $38,950 CAD, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $36,562 CAD average.
• It adds an optional carbon-fibre composite cargo bed.

The bottom line: The 2020 is the better value if you want a well-liked Sierra 1500 at a lower average price and with more room to negotiate. If you can stretch for the 2021 and want its added feature set, that newer year is worth a look; otherwise, the 2020 is the smarter pick for price-sensitive buyers.
