Is the 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 a good car?

Generally — the 4.28/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction for this truck. Owners consistently praise the spacious interior, advanced technology, strong performance, smooth ride, and the range of configurations available. That fits a full-size pickup that aims to feel upscale while still serving work, towing, and daily-driving needs. Is the 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.28/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a truck that many buyers find dependable over time, with praise for its strong performance and overall ownership experience. At the same time, some owners mention engine-related concerns, including oil burning and recalls, so you should pay close attention to service history and any outstanding repairs before you buy. For used buyers, that means the long-term ownership risk looks manageable, but only if you verify maintenance and inspect the truck carefully.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 GMC Sierra 1500?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 517 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.90% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $36,168 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 GMC Sierra 1500's resale value?

The current average of $37,469 CAD sits slightly below last year's $43,018 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy more confidently today but may limit near-term upside if you plan to resell soon. If you purchase at the right price and keep the truck well maintained, you may be better positioned to preserve value than someone who pays near the top of the range. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.28/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.90% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.28/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $39,376 CAD, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $37,469 CAD average.
• It adds an optional carbon-fibre composite cargo bed.

The bottom line: The 2020 is the better starting point if you want a lower average price and a broader pool of discounted listings. If you want the newer year and are willing to pay more for a few added touches, the 2021 is the stronger secondary path.
