Why it stands out
The 2019 Jeep Cherokee stands out as the year of a meaningful refresh for Jeep’s third-generation Cherokee. It replaced the two-part headlights with a conventional one-piece design and added a new hood, bumper, fog lamps, and taillamps, giving the SUV a cleaner look than before. Jeep also made a 7-inch touchscreen standard, along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which helped modernise the cabin and made the Cherokee easier to live with day to day.
This model year also broadened the Cherokee’s appeal with a new 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine rated at 270 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque, offered alongside the V6. Cargo space increased to 764 litres thanks to a 7.5-centimetre increase in width in the cargo hold, and the interior gained lighter colours on the lower trim panels, new cloth fabrics, gloss-black trim, and a revised centre console with a larger pocket for phones. The Overland trim added chrome front tow hooks and 19-inch wheels, while other trims received new wheel designs.
At the same time, the 2019 Cherokee still reflected some of the compromises that defined this generation. The nine-speed automatic received a software update, but the model’s broader reputation was shaped by earlier transmission issues in this generation, and the buying guide notes poor efficiency and some bad engines through the years. Even so, for shoppers who wanted a more distinctive compact SUV with available off-road hardware, updated technology, and a more polished appearance, the 2019 Cherokee offered a compelling mix of style, capability, and value.

I really like this car. Has less horsepower than others but helps with gas mileage and my driving style. Was able to get all the groceries in backend without moving backseat. My first SUV so really like sitting up taller.

so pleased with the Jeep! It travels well, good acceleration. My only problem is as a senior, theres a lot of electronics to figure out, but Im sure it wont take too long.

The version of Cherokee we purchased is.... perfect. It has a redesigned front end that is nicer than the previous version. So, we got the stock FWD Latitude, but it came with the cold weather package. Traction Control, Remote start, heated front seats (despite it being cloth seats), heated steering wheel, and the 3.2 Pentastar V6 engine. We have not found another Cherokee for sale (that is configured like this). So, we dont have to worry about the troublesome tiger-shark 2.4 engine issues.... the 9 speed is now sorted (compared to the 2014-2017), & we have not had one issue with the Cherokee. The V6 has some serous giddy-up. We have 32,000 miles on it now, & trouble free. And dare I say, the stock stereo is preferable to the higher end 8.4 screen as it comes with Android Auto built in. Pandora streaming with Waze or Google Maps perfectly works with the stock screen/system (fully integrated). Like I said, the PERFECT configuration. And we bought ours for $16,000 with only 20,000 miles (via the Chrysler Used Certified program) about 14 months after it was first sold to the original owner. Literally, almost half the price of a new one similarly configured (& with a better warranty). Jeep (Chrysler) knocked this one out of the park.

I LOVE my jeep! The touch screen is awesome and it drives so smooth! And it is beautiful inside and out! Roomy and comfortable!
