How much does the 2019 Honda Civic cost?

Prices have softened 7.90% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 733 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2019 Honda Civic a good car?

Yes — the 2019 Honda Civic earns a 4.71/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its reliability, comfort, and safety features, while also calling out its stylish appearance and good fuel economy. It also fits well if you want a compact car that feels more polished than its price suggests, with sedan, coupe, and hatchback body styles giving you room to choose the version that suits your needs. With 34.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still looks reasonably favourable for shoppers.

Is the 2019 Honda Civic reliable?

Owners rate it 4.71/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback highlights reliability, and the Civic is also described as a car that feels built to last. The driving impression reinforces that dependability, with smooth, refined power delivery and a chassis that feels composed in everyday use. Honda’s maintenance-friendly ownership story is helped by the car’s strong value proposition, and the Civic’s long-term appeal is supported by its reputation for being a safe, comfortable, and reliable daily driver.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that some examples may show the effects of age and mileage more than major mechanical weakness.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Honda Civic?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Civic’s trim spread includes sedan, coupe, and hatchback versions, and the Sport trim adds a centre-mounted exhaust and some of the exterior flash of the Si for less money. Base trims are more basic, while higher trims add features such as LED headlights, navigation, and the top-tier audio system.
• Powertrain: The 2.0-litre inline four-cylinder makes 158 horsepower and 138 pound-feet of torque in DX, LX, EX, and Sport sedans, as well as LX and Sport coupes. Touring models use the turbocharged 1.5-litre inline-four with 174 hp and 162 lb-ft, while the hatchback uses the turbocharged engine across the range.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard on every trim level except the Si and Type R. It includes forward-collision alert with forward collision warning and emergency braking, lane-keep assist, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control.
• Infotainment: Standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, along with Bluetooth. Honda’s Garmin-based navigation is a standout, and LaneWatch is available on certain trims.
• Fuel efficiency: The turbo engine is the better pick if you want stronger response and better mid-range acceleration than the base 2.0-litre.

Which 2019 Honda Civic trim should I buy?

The 2019 Honda Civic is offered in 6 trim levels: DX, LX, EX, Sport, Touring, and Si.

Here's the short version:

• DX: This is the most affordable way into the Civic, but it is the most stripped-back choice, so it makes sense only if you want the lowest entry price and can live without the nicer equipment found higher up the range.
• LX: This is the sensible value pick if you want the Civic experience without stretching too far, and it gives you a solid starting point before the more feature-rich trims.
• EX: This is the better all-round choice if you want a more complete daily driver, especially if you value the turbocharged engine and a stronger equipment mix.
• Sport: This is the best-value trim for shoppers who want a little more style and personality, thanks to the centre-mounted exhaust and added visual flair.
• Touring: This is the trim to choose if you want the most upscale Civic experience, including LED headlights, navigation, and the top-tier audio system.
• Si: This is the enthusiast choice, with the boosted 1.5-litre engine and a stick shift for drivers who want the most engaging version.

Honda Sensing is standard on every trim level except the Si and Type R.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Honda Civic?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 34.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 733 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.90% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $18,474 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Honda Civic's resale value?

The current average of $18,618 CAD sits slightly below last year's $20,216 CAD.

That softer pricing trend suggests sellers may need to be realistic if they want to move a Civic quickly. The model’s broad appeal still helps, though, because buyers continue to value its reliability, safety, and everyday usability. If you own a well-kept example with desirable equipment, you should still have a solid audience, but the market is not rewarding overpricing.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.71/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Honda Civic safe?

The Honda Civic earns five-star ratings in all NHTSA categories, with the exception of four stars for the coupe's passenger-side frontal crash rating.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard on every trim level except the Si and Type R, and it includes forward-collision alert with forward collision warning and emergency braking, lane-keep assist, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control. That makes the Civic unusually well equipped for active safety in this class. The main caveat is that the coupe’s passenger-side frontal crash result is lower than the rest of the NHTSA results.

Should I buy a 2019 Honda Civic or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 34.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.90% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.71/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Minor tweaks preserve the Civic’s winning mix of style, value, and performance.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $20,350 CAD, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $18,618 CAD average.
• More standard safety and convenience features are the key upgrade.

The bottom line: The 2019 is the better buy if you want the strongest value and a well-rounded Civic with broad trim and body-style choice. If you can stretch for the 2020, the extra standard equipment may be worth it, but price-sensitive buyers should feel comfortable targeting the 2019.
