Generally — the 4.32/5 user rating suggests you should expect a well-liked truck overall. Owners consistently praise its power, smooth ride, and comfortable interior, and many also value the range of features and the truck’s overall value. That fits especially well if you want a full-size pickup that leans more upscale than a typical work truck, with a cabin and feature set that can feel close to luxury in higher trims. Is the 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 reliable?

The owner feedback points to a truck that many drivers find dependable enough to live with day to day, with praise centred on its power, smooth ride, and comfortable interior. At the same time, some owners mention reliability issues with certain engines, so you should treat a used example as a vehicle that rewards careful inspection and maintenance history review. For long-term ownership, the main risk is buying one that has not been properly maintained or that shows signs of drivetrain trouble.

What is the 2017 GMC Sierra 1500's resale value?

The current average of $23,564 CAD sits slightly below last year's $27,176 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price and keep the truck in strong condition, you may be better positioned than someone who pays near the top of the range. The broad appeal of the Sierra’s upscale cabin and capability should help support demand, but resale will still depend heavily on trim, mileage, and maintenance history.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.32/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 or consider a different year?
