The current average of $26,404 CAD sits slightly below last year's $29,624 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can make the truck more attractive to buyers now but may also limit upside for a future seller if prices stay soft. If you buy at the lower end of the current range, you may have a better chance of protecting your value later. Strong demand for well-kept examples should help support resale, especially for trucks with desirable equipment and clean histories.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.44/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 23.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.87% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.44/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2018 if you want a more upscale full-size pickup and you can take advantage of the softer pricing. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby model year may be worth comparing, but the 2018 is a sensible target when you find a clean example with strong equipment and a competitive asking price.
