Is the 2016 Subaru Outback a good car?

Generally — the 4.33/5 user rating suggests you’re looking at a well-liked used vehicle. Owners most often praise its spaciousness, comfort, and fuel efficiency, and many also value the safety features and handling. That makes it a strong fit if you want a practical family vehicle with all-weather capability and a car-like driving feel. With 24.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2016 Subaru Outback reliable?

Owners rate it 4.33/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that many drivers find dependable and easy to live with over time, especially when it comes to comfort, safety, and everyday usefulness. That said, some buyers have noted concerns with the leather seats, so condition matters if you’re shopping used. For long-term ownership, your biggest risk is likely tied to how well the vehicle has been maintained rather than to broad owner dissatisfaction.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Subaru Outback?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient and compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 24.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 137 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.86% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $13,688 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Subaru Outback's resale value?

The current average of $13,794 CAD sits slightly below last year's $16,395 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the vehicle more attractive to used buyers now but may limit upside for a future seller. If you buy at the current average or below, you’re starting from a more favourable entry point than a year ago. If you plan to resell later, the softer pricing trend means your return will depend heavily on mileage, condition, and maintenance history.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.33/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Subaru Outback or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 24.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.86% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.33/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 is a sensible choice if you want a well-liked, practical Outback and you’re focused on value in today’s market. If you’re price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby model years and prioritise whichever one gives you the best combination of condition, equipment, and asking price.
