The current average of $10,747 CAD sits slightly below last year's $12,272 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the model has become more accessible for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy well now, you may have less downside risk than someone who purchased when prices were higher. The Sonata’s broad appeal as a comfortable, well-equipped midsize sedan should help support demand, especially among shoppers looking for value.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Hyundai Sonata or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 25.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.43% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 Sonata makes the most sense if you want a comfortable, well-equipped midsize sedan and you value current pricing that has eased from last year. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may still be worth comparing, but the 2016 stands out as a balanced choice when you want value, features, and strong owner feedback.
