Is the 2016 Hyundai Sonata a good car?

Yes — the 2016 Hyundai Sonata earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Reviewers consistently praise its features, comfort, and overall value, and many also appreciate the technology and the vehicle’s condition even after substantial mileage. That lines up well with its role as a midsize sedan that was built to feel more upscale and better equipped than its price might suggest, especially if you want a roomy, comfortable daily driver with a generous equipment list. With 29.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some attractive market availability if you shop carefully.

Is the 2016 Hyundai Sonata reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Reviewers describe it as dependable and trouble-free in everyday use, and they also note that it holds up well even after substantial mileage. That kind of feedback matters if you want a used sedan you can count on for regular commuting and family duty.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific car has been maintained properly and checked carefully before you commit.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Hyundai Sonata?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient and compare listings closely.

• Deal availability: 29.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 150 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.27% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $10,675 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Hyundai Sonata's resale value?

The current average of $10,812 CAD sits slightly below last year's $12,324 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Sonata has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can be helpful if you are buying now but less ideal if you are planning to sell soon. If you own one for a few years, the softer current market may limit upside unless demand strengthens. Still, a well-kept example with the right equipment and a clean history should remain easier to move than a neglected one.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Hyundai Sonata or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 29.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.27% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 Sonata makes the most sense if you want a well-equipped midsize sedan with strong owner approval and a market that still offers some deal potential. If your priority is simply finding the lowest asking price, you may also want to compare nearby model years and focus on whichever one gives you the best combination of condition, equipment, and asking price.
