That lines up well with the Sonata’s role as a roomy, comfortable midsize sedan that offers a generous feature set for the money.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Hyundai Sonata?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 27.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 139 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.30% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $10,678 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Hyundai Sonata's resale value?

The current average of $10,727 CAD sits slightly below last year's $12,232 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become more buyer-friendly, which can make future resale a little more challenging if you buy at the wrong point in the range. If you purchase near the lower end and keep the car in strong condition, you give yourself a better chance of limiting depreciation. The Sonata’s broad appeal as a comfortable, well-equipped midsize sedan should still help it attract shoppers later on.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Hyundai Sonata or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 27.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.30% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 Sonata makes the most sense if you want a comfortable, well-equipped midsize sedan and you value strong owner satisfaction. If you’re price-sensitive, you can also compare nearby years to see whether a lower asking price offsets any differences in availability or condition.
