Reviews Summary

The redesigned 2026 Audi A6 marks the ninth generation of midsize luxury sedans from Ingolstadt, Germany. While it shares a name and some tech features with the Audi A6 e-tron introduced for the 2025 model year, the gasoline A6 is an otherwise different vehicle based on the same Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) as the A5 sedan and Q5 crossover. A redesign was certainly needed as most other midsize luxury sedans—specifically the BMW 5 Series and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class—were renewed more recently, and we haven’t had a genuinely new A6 since the 2020 model year.

Verdict: On paper, the A6 looks like more of a premium product than before, but it doesn’t feel that way from behind the wheel, and the tech is a work in progress.

Reviews Summary

Honda Canada offers the 2025 Accord Hybrid in two trim levels, each equipped with a drivetrain producing 204 horsepower and 247 pound-feet of torque, while delivering fuel economy as low as 5.3 litres per 100 kilometres in combined driving. Among midsize sedans, it has the roomiest back seat and the biggest trunk, adding comfort and practicality. This year, minor but meaningful changes for Accord Hybrid models include standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless smartphone charging, heated front seats, and rear air conditioning vents.

Verdict: Cars like the Accord used to be the traditional choice for a family of four. Now, consumers generally prefer crossover SUVs, so selecting an Accord is unconventional. Those who do will get a lot for their money, though. The 2025 Honda Accord Hybrid is roomy, comfortable, great to drive, safe in a collision, and budget-friendly.

2026 Audi A6

7/10

2025 Honda Accord Hybrid

7/10

The 2025 Honda Accord Hybrid in Canada was available in two versions: the Sport-L Hybrid and the Touring Hybrid. The Sport-L Hybrid was the more affordable option, priced at $45,962, while the Touring Hybrid, which was tested, cost $48,462. The Touring model featured a Google Built-in infotainment system and a 12-speaker Bose premium sound system. Redesigned in 2023, the Accord Hybrid adopted a plain and simple design, which, while not particularly striking, was expected to age gracefully. The interior, despite being limited to a black leather option in Canada, was high-quality with elegant mesh dashboard trim and metallic accents. The Touring model boasted soft leather upholstery, and the Urban Grey Pearl paint revealed a golden hue in sunlight.

The 2026 Audi A6, like the smaller A5, was handsome but not visually striking. Its design included a lower "singleframe" grille, fender flares inspired by the Quattro rally car, and a pronounced rib in the lower door skins. The A6's LED headlights featured a pixelated effect with programmable signatures, and the taillights were repositioned to accommodate programmable lights. Available in base, Progressiv, and Technik trims, the A6 was only offered as a sedan, with the previous-generation RS 6 Avant wagon still available. The Technik trim's S Line Black package added sportier elements, while the Sport Plus Package included 21-inch wheels and summer tires. Despite these features, the interior materials were disappointingly bland and cheap-feeling.

Performance

2026 Audi A6

2025 Honda Accord Hybrid

7/10

The 2025 Honda Accord Hybrid featured a unique two-motor hybrid powertrain where the 2.0-litre four-cylinder gasoline engine acted as an electrical generator. The primary propulsion came from an electric motor with 247 lb-ft of torque, while the gas engine, producing 204 hp, could directly power the front wheels in certain situations. The system eliminated the need for a conventional transmission, with paddles on the steering wheel used for regenerative braking. The Accord Hybrid offered four driving modes and an EV mode for electric-only driving at low speeds. The chassis was expertly tuned, providing a compliant ride and precise steering. On a road trip, the Touring model averaged 6.3 L/100 km, slightly above its rating, but still impressive given the car's size and comfort.

The 2026 Audi A6 was powered by a turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 engine, producing 362 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and standard quattro AWD. This setup made the A6 feel energetic, though there was a notable hesitation from the transmission under heavy throttle. The Sport Plus package included a sport rear differential and steel-spring suspension for improved handling, though it compromised ride comfort. Rear-axle steering and a progressive steering rack enhanced manoeuvrability and stability. Despite these features, the A6 was better suited for highway driving than spirited cornering, with noticeable tire noise on less-than-perfect roads.

Form and function

2025 Honda Accord Hybrid

8/10

The 2025 Honda Accord Hybrid offered a comfortable and convenient interior, with a standard 10-way power adjustable driver's seat and heated front seats. The Touring trim added ventilated front seats and heated rear seats. Rear-seat comfort was comparable to a full-size car, with ample legroom and thigh support. Interior storage was generous, though some areas lacked liners to prevent items from sliding. The trunk provided 473 litres of space, accommodating full-size suitcases and longer items with the 60/40-split folding back seat.

The 2026 Audi A6, despite being six centimetres longer than its predecessor, did not offer increased passenger space. The panoramic glass roof added headroom in the front, but rear seat dimensions remained similar. The A6 provided comparable space to a BMW 5 Series, with heated rear seats and climate controls. The trunk, with 382 litres of space, was smaller than the previous generation but still competitive within its class. The 40/20/40 split-folding rear seats allowed for flexible cargo arrangements.

Technology

2025 Honda Accord Hybrid

7/10

The 2025 Honda Accord Hybrid featured a 10.2-inch digital instrumentation panel and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and charging. The Touring trim included Google Built-in, though Google Assistant occasionally failed to execute commands. The 12-speaker Bose audio system and a 6-inch head-up display were exclusive to the Touring model.

The 2026 Audi A6 introduced the Digital Stage setup with an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.5-inch touchscreen. An optional 10.9-inch front-passenger touchscreen was available. The MMI infotainment system was criticized for its oversimplified layout, though voice recognition and wireless smartphone integration were standard. An interface update was planned for mid-year, adding features like an integrated dashcam. The optional Bang & Olufsen audio system featured headrest speakers for navigation directions.

Safety

2025 Honda Accord Hybrid

6/10

The 2025 Honda Accord Hybrid came standard with Honda Sensing, which included features like automatic high-beam headlights, forward collision warning, and adaptive cruise control. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert were also standard. The Accord Hybrid received a five-star overall rating from the NHTSA and was named a Top Safety Pick+ by the IIHS.

The 2026 Audi A6 included standard driver-assist features such as adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, and blind spot monitors. However, it lacked a hands-free driving system, and the lane centring feature allowed for some lane wobble. Crash-test ratings were not available at the time of writing, which is typical for a new model year.
