How much does the 2026 Honda Civic cost?

Prices have softened 5.05% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 364 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2026 Honda Civic a good car?

The 2026 Honda Civic earns an expert rating of 6.8/10.

The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

That lines up with Honda’s description of a Civic that has aged with remarkable grace, offers broad body-style and powertrain choice, and still feels satisfying to drive even with the base engine. The trade-offs are clear: it can be noisy at speed, and its technology is described as outdated.

For shoppers who want a polished compact car with sedan and hatchback options, plus gas and hybrid choices, the Civic makes a strong case. There are 34.6% good or great deals in the market, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2026 Honda Civic reliable?

Honda describes the Civic as a dependable model, and it says the car is the kind of vehicle you buy, drive for a long time, and keep running with very little fuss. The expert review also points to Honda’s strong reliability reputation and the Civic’s ability to hold its value well over time.

The performance notes support that impression: the Civic’s drivetrain is straightforward, the CVT is generally unobtrusive, and the car’s mechanical setup is tuned for everyday durability rather than complexity. Honda also frames the Civic as fuel-efficient, especially in hybrid form.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about durability and more about whether you can live with the Civic’s premium pricing and its less advanced tech.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Honda Civic?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Civic lineup spans sedans and hatchbacks, with gas-only and hybrid powertrains, plus Si and Type R variants. The base Civic LX is the most basic choice, while the Civic Sport adds visual upgrades and the Sport Touring Hybrid brings more equipment. The cabin quality is a highlight, but the base setup is still paired with the simpler infotainment system.
• Powertrain: The Civic LX and Civic Sport use a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with 150 horsepower and 133 lb-ft of torque, a CVT, and front-wheel drive. The hybrids use Honda’s two-motor hybrid powertrain and are described as offering remarkable power and impressive efficiency.
• Safety package: Every Civic gets Honda Sensing, which includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, lane centring assist, adaptive cruise control, and Traffic Jam Assist. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high-beam headlights are also standard. The Sport Touring Hybrid adds front and rear parking sensors with low-speed automatic braking.
• Infotainment: The standard setup uses a 7-inch digital instrumentation panel and a 7-inch touchscreen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, but they require a cable connection. Higher trims such as the Civic Si and Sport Touring Hybrid get larger 10.2-inch instrumentation and 9-inch infotainment displays, plus Google built-in, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and wireless smartphone charging.
• Fuel efficiency: The Civic’s Natural Resources Canada fuel economy ratings are 7.6 litres per 100 kilometres in the city, 6.0 on the highway, and 6.9 combined. On testing, it returned 7.4 L/100 km.

Which 2026 Honda Civic trim should I buy?

The 2026 Honda Civic is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, Sport, Sport Hybrid, and Sport Touring Hybrid.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Civic’s core strengths without the extra equipment. It suits you if you want the lowest-cost path into the lineup and are comfortable with the simpler tech.
• Sport: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a more polished look and feel without changing the Civic’s basic formula. It keeps the same 2.0-litre engine, but the extra visual and cabin touches make it easier to justify than the base model.
• Sport Hybrid: Choose this if you want the Civic’s efficiency story to matter more in daily use. The hybrid powertrain is described as offering remarkable power and impressive efficiency.
• Sport Touring Hybrid: This is the most feature-rich choice, with larger displays, Google built-in, wireless smartphone charging, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and more. It also gets front and rear parking sensors with low-speed automatic braking.

Honda Sensing is standard across the lineup, and the Sport Touring Hybrid adds the extra parking-sensor safety equipment.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 Honda Civic?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.

• Deal availability: 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 364 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.05% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $32,499 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2026 Honda Civic's resale value?

The current average of $32,619 CAD sits slightly below last year's $34,355 CAD.

That suggests the Civic has softened a bit in the used market, which can help you as a buyer today. For a future seller, it also means you should expect the Civic to remain relatively resilient, but not immune to normal depreciation.

Because the Civic is still in demand and is described as holding its value well over time, it should remain easier to resell than many compact cars. Even so, the current pricing shows that buyers are getting a little more leverage than they were a year ago.

Is the 2026 Honda Civic safe?

The 2026 Civic earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, including four-star frontal impact, five-star side impact, and five-star rollover resistance ratings.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard, and it includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, lane centring assist, adaptive cruise control, and Traffic Jam Assist. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high-beam headlights are also standard.

The main caveat is that the lane-centring assist can feel intrusive without adaptive cruise control, and the adaptive cruise control itself can brake more abruptly than you might like in traffic.

Should I buy a 2026 Honda Civic or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.05% compared with last year.
• The 2026 carries over unchanged after the 2025 update, so you get the latest version of this generation without paying for a redesign.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $29,053 CAD, the 2025 costs less than the current year's $32,619 CAD average.
• It offers a refreshed, more flexible lineup with a practical mix of affordability and variety.

The bottom line: If you want the newest used Civic with the broadest current-market context, the 2026 is the cleaner pick. If price matters more than model-year freshness, the 2025 is the smarter value play.
