How much does the 2026 Honda Civic cost?

Prices have softened 5.01% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 362 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2026 Honda Civic a good car?

The 2026 Honda Civic earns an expert rating of 6.8/10.

The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

You’re looking at a compact car that has aged with remarkable grace, offers sedans and hatchbacks, and can be had with gas or hybrid power. The cabin also benefits from premium interior materials, which helps justify the premium you pay for it.

The trade-offs are clear: it can be noisy at speed, and its technology is described as outdated.

For shoppers who want a polished compact car with broad body-style and powertrain choice, it remains a strong all-rounder. There are 34.5% good or great deals in the market, so value-minded buyers may still find worthwhile listings.

Is the 2026 Honda Civic reliable?

The 2026 Honda Civic is described as dependable, and Honda ranks high in reliability.

The expert assessment also points to strong long-term ownership appeal: it’s the kind of car you buy, drive for a long time, spend very little to keep running, and it just works for years and years. The performance notes back that up with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder that gets the job done, a CVT that mostly stays out of the way, and braking and steering that are tuned for everyday confidence.

Honda also frames the Civic as cost-effective because it holds its value well over time, and the hybrid versions are especially fuel-efficient. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a premium purchase price can leave less room in your budget if you want the cheapest compact car to own.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Honda Civic?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Civic lineup spans sedans and hatchbacks, gas-only and hybrid powertrains, and performance variants such as the Si and Type R. The base Civic LX is the most basic, while the Civic Sport adds 18-inch wheels, a shiny exhaust outlet tip, and a cabin that still feels more upscale than cheap. The Sport Touring Hybrid adds larger displays, Google built-in, wireless charging, and parking sensors with low-speed automatic braking.
• Powertrain: Civic LX and Civic Sport models use a 2.0-litre four-cylinder with 150 horsepower and 133 lb-ft of torque, paired with a CVT and front-wheel drive. The hybrids use Honda’s two-motor hybrid powertrain and are described as offering remarkable power and impressive efficiency.
• Safety package: Every Civic gets Honda Sensing, which includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, lane centring assist, adaptive cruise control, and Traffic Jam Assist at lower speeds. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high-beam headlights are also standard. The Sport Touring Hybrid adds front and rear parking sensors with low-speed automatic braking.
• Infotainment: The standard setup includes a 7-inch digital instrumentation panel and a 7-inch touchscreen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto require a cable connection. Higher trims such as the Si and Sport Touring Hybrid get larger 10.2-inch instrumentation and 9-inch infotainment displays, plus Google built-in, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and wireless smartphone charging.
• Fuel efficiency: The Civic’s Natural Resources Canada fuel economy ratings are 7.6 litres per 100 kilometres in the city, 6.0 on the highway, and 6.9 in combined driving.

Which 2026 Honda Civic trim should I buy?

The 2026 Honda Civic is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, Sport, Sport Hybrid, and Sport Touring Hybrid.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Civic’s core strengths without the extra tech or luxury touches. It suits you if you want the most affordable way into the lineup and are comfortable with the standard 7-inch displays and wired smartphone integration.
• Sport: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a more polished look and feel without moving too far up the price ladder. You get 18-inch wheels, a shiny exhaust outlet tip, and a cabin that still feels class-above for the segment.
• Sport Hybrid: Choose this if you want the hybrid powertrain’s stronger efficiency and more impressive overall power. It’s the right pick if you care more about fuel savings and smooth everyday driving than extra luxury features.
• Sport Touring Hybrid: This is the most feature-rich choice, with larger displays, Google built-in, wireless charging, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and parking sensors with low-speed automatic braking. It suits you if you want the most complete Civic experience and are willing to pay for it.

Honda Sensing is standard across the lineup, so you don’t need to move up a trim for the core driver-assistance suite.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 Honda Civic?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you should have some room to shop carefully.

• Deal availability: 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 362 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.01% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $32,495 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2026 Honda Civic's resale value?

The current average of $32,617 CAD sits slightly below last year's $34,337 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the Civic is still holding value reasonably well, but not as strongly as it was a year ago. If you buy now, you may benefit from a more favourable entry price than recent sellers saw.

For a future seller, that means resale should remain respectable, but you should not expect the market to reward you with a big premium unless your Civic is especially well equipped or unusually clean. The model’s reputation for reliability and long-term desirability should help support demand.

Is the 2026 Honda Civic safe?

The 2026 Civic earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, including four-star frontal impact, five-star side impact, and five-star rollover resistance ratings.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard, and it includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, lane centring assist, adaptive cruise control, and Traffic Jam Assist. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high-beam headlights are also standard.

One caveat is that the lane-centring assist can feel intrusive when used without adaptive cruise control, and the adaptive cruise control can brake more abruptly than you might like in heavier traffic.

Should I buy a 2026 Honda Civic or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.01% compared with last year.
• It carries over unchanged after the 2025 update, so you’re getting the latest version of this generation.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $29,025 CAD, the 2025 costs less than the current year's $32,617 CAD average.
• It brought subtle but meaningful updates and a broader, more flexible lineup.

The bottom line: Buy the 2026 if you want the latest carryover version and are comfortable paying a premium for a Civic’s polish and driving feel. If price matters more than having the newest model year, the 2025 is the smarter value play.
