Is the 2025 Volvo XC60 a good car?

The 2025 Volvo XC60 stands out as a premium compact crossover that blends clean Scandinavian design, standard safety technology, and fuel-efficient powertrains. It is a five-passenger model, which keeps it practical without losing its upscale character.

For 2025, the XC60’s lineup includes fuel-efficient four-cylinder engines and a plug-in hybrid. Buyers looking for a luxury SUV with a restrained design and a strong safety focus will find that combination especially appealing.

35% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you a meaningful share of attractive options to consider.

Is the 2025 Volvo XC60 reliable?

Volvo’s long-running emphasis on safety is a major part of the XC60’s appeal, and the model has built a reputation around that strength. It also benefits from the second generation’s broader move toward modern technology and efficiency, including mild-hybrid powertrains in the base lineup and a plug-in hybrid option.

There are a few trade-offs to keep in mind. The XC60’s design is described by some as dated, and the model has been noted for jerky acceleration and braking, along with tight rear-seat legroom. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is more about living with those compromises than expecting a major surprise.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Volvo XC60?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so it makes sense to shop carefully and compare listings.

• Deal availability: 35% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 140 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.75% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $53,814 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Volvo XC60's resale value?

The current average of $60,117 CAD sits slightly below last year's $61,189 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the XC60 is holding value reasonably well, but not strongly enough to signal a rising market. If you plan to sell later, you should expect today’s pricing to set the tone for a fairly steady but slightly softer resale environment. For a future seller, that means condition, mileage, and equipment will matter more if you want to stand out.

Should I buy a 2025 Volvo XC60 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 35% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.75% compared with last year.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It adds a larger touchscreen with Google Gemini integration.

The bottom line: The 2025 is the better pick if you want a slightly softer market and more room to negotiate. If you care most about updated in-car tech, the 2026 is the stronger alternative, while price-sensitive buyers should keep the 2025 on their shortlist.
