What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Volvo XC60?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base T5 Momentum gives you the core XC60 experience, while higher trims add more luxury and equipment. The available grades also include T6-powered R-Design and Inscription models, plus T8 eAWD versions and the Polestar Engineered model at the top end.
• Powertrain: You get a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine across the range, with T5, T6, and T8 variants. The T8 plug-in hybrid can drive up to 31 kilometres on electric power, while all Canadian models use AWD and an 8-speed automatic.

• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada figures range from 11.1 L/100 km city and 8.3 L/100 km highway for the T5 to 9.3 L/100 km combined for the T8 PHEV, with 4.0 Le/100 km combined in electric-only mode.

• T5 Momentum: This is the entry point and the best-value choice if you want the XC60’s core safety, comfort, and design without stretching to a pricier powertrain.
• T6 R-Design: Choose this if you want more performance and a sportier look, along with the stronger T6 engine.
• T6 Inscription: This suits you if you want the same T6 power with a more upscale, luxury-focused presentation.

• T8 eAWD Inscription: Pick this if you want the plug-in hybrid powertrain with a more premium equipment mix.
• T8 eAWD R-Design: This is the better fit if you want the T8’s efficiency and power with a sportier appearance and feel.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Volvo XC60?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it rewards patience and comparison shopping.

• Deal availability: 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 138 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 19.89% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $29,713 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Volvo XC60's resale value?

The current average of $29,752 CAD sits slightly below last year's $37,137 CAD.

That drop suggests the XC60 has become more accessible for used buyers, but it also means future sellers may face a softer pricing environment than owners saw a year ago. If you buy now, you may benefit from the lower entry cost, but resale gains are likely to depend more on condition, mileage, and trim desirability than on broad market appreciation.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2021 Volvo XC60 or consider a different year?

• Price trend: Prices have softened 19.89% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It pairs luxury-level appointments with exceptional safety and a value-friendly used price.
