CarGurus Analysis: 2024 Volvo XC60
Summary
With 176 currently listed for sale and an average price of $45,219 CAD, 26.7% of 2024 Volvo XC60 listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2024 Volvo XC60 5 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2024 Volvo XC60 stands out as a premium compact crossover that blends clean Scandinavian design with a strong emphasis on safety and efficiency. It is a five-passenger SUV with standard safety tech and luxurious amenities, and Volvo’s long-running focus on safety is a major part of its appeal. The XC60 has also built a reputation as the brand’s best-selling vehicle, which helps explain why it remains such a familiar choice among buyers looking for a refined, practical luxury SUV.
For 2024, the XC60 sits in Volvo’s second generation and continues with fuel-efficient four-cylinder powertrains. The lineup includes a plug-in hybrid, and the model’s standard all-wheel drive and eight-speed automatic transmission add to its broad appeal. The 2024 model year also saw the mid-level B6 powertrain eliminated, while the XC60 Black Edition joined the lineup as a styling package exclusive to the top-end Ultimate trim. That package brought Onyx Black paint, 21-inch gloss black alloy wheels, a crystal gear shift knob by Orrefors, and other black exterior and interior details.
Inside, the XC60’s strengths are its straightforward luxury and useful technology. Standard equipment includes leather upholstery, heated front seats, Thor’s Hammer LED headlights, and a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. Buyers can also find available features such as a panoramic sunroof, Nappa leather seats, a 15-speaker Bowers & Wilkins premium sound system, air suspension, and Pilot Assist with adaptive cruise control and steer assist. The main drawbacks are that acceleration and braking can feel jerky, rear-seat legroom is tight, and the second generation can be pricey, but for shoppers who value safety, style, and a polished cabin, the 2024 XC60 remains an appealing choice.

Is the 2024 Volvo XC60 reliable?

The 2024 XC60’s appeal is built around Volvo’s long-running emphasis on safety, standard safety technology, and a straightforward luxury cabin. It also uses fuel-efficient four-cylinder powertrains, which supports its practical side. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the second generation can be pricey, so condition and maintenance history matter.

What is the 2024 Volvo XC60's resale value?
The current average of $45,321 CAD sits slightly below last year's $55,886 CAD.
That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favourable point, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if the market stays soft. If you plan to sell later, buying closer to the lower end of the range can help protect your position. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2024 Volvo XC60 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2024 if:
- 24.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 18.91% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $39,591 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $45,321 CAD average.
- It offers a practical plug-in hybrid setup with nightly charging and electric-only driving.
The bottom line: Choose the 2024 if you want the current-year XC60’s safety-focused, refined luxury package and are comfortable paying more for it. If you are price-sensitive, the 2023 is the better value path because it costs less and still delivers the XC60’s plug-in hybrid appeal.
