Which 2022 Volvo XC60 trim should I buy?

The 2022 Volvo XC60 is offered in 6 trim levels: B5 Momentum, B6 Momentum, B6 R-Design, B6 Inscription, T8 Recharge Inscription, T8 Recharge R-Design, and T8 Recharge Polestar Engineered.

Here's the short version:

• B5 Momentum: This is the entry point and the most accessible way into the XC60 lineup. It gives you the core luxury-SUV experience, standard AWD, and the updated tech and safety suite, making it the best-value choice if you want the XC60’s essentials without stretching for extras.
• B6 Momentum: Step up here if you want stronger performance from the mild-hybrid setup while staying close to the more straightforward luxury formula. It suits you if you want more power without moving into the sportier or more expensive trims.
• B6 R-Design: This is the sportier-looking choice, and the test car’s aluminium mesh speaker grilles and textured seats show how it adds flair. It’s a good fit if you want a more expressive cabin and don’t mind paying more for style.
• B6 Inscription: This trim leans into comfort and upscale materials, including Nappa leather upholstery and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. It’s the right pick if you want the most traditional luxury feel in the mild-hybrid range.
• T8 Recharge Inscription: Choose this if you want plug-in hybrid capability with a more premium, comfort-focused presentation. It’s best for buyers who value electrified driving and upscale appointments over outright sportiness.
• T8 Recharge R-Design: This version combines plug-in hybrid power with a sportier appearance and feel. It suits you if you want the Recharge powertrain but prefer a more athletic look.
• T8 Recharge Polestar Engineered: This is the performance-focused plug-in hybrid, with more power, Öhlins adjustable dampers, Akebono brakes, and a front strut bar. It’s the one to choose if you want the most aggressive XC60 character.

The safety package is available as an option, and it combines adaptive cruise control with automated lane centring.

• Deal availability: 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 213 listings available.

What is the 2022 Volvo XC60's resale value?

The current average of $34,479 CAD sits slightly below last year's $42,195 CAD.

That price drop suggests the XC60 has moved into a more buyer-friendly part of the market, which can make future resale values more sensitive to condition, mileage, and equipment. If you buy well now, you may have less room for depreciation than someone who paid closer to the earlier average. Well-kept examples with desirable features should still hold appeal, especially if they present as clean, modern, and well maintained.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2022 Volvo XC60 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 18.29% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds new mild-hybrid powertrains, updated styling, and Android-based infotainment.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $30,105 CAD, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $34,479 CAD average.
• It offers a well-judged, practical luxury crossover with strong safety and comfort.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $39,956 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $34,479 CAD average.
• It adds plug-in hybrid appeal with electric-only driving for shorter trips.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the best all-around choice if you want the updated powertrains and infotainment without moving up to the pricier 2023. If price matters most, the 2021 is the smarter value play; if you want plug-in hybrid flexibility, the 2023 is the better fit.
