Is the 2025 Volvo XC60 a good car?

The 2025 Volvo XC60 stands out as a five-passenger premium compact crossover that blends clean Scandinavian design with a strong emphasis on safety and standard equipment. Volvo’s own positioning makes clear that the XC60’s appeal comes from its safety tech, luxurious amenities, and fuel-efficient powertrains, and the model’s long-running popularity is reflected in its status as Volvo’s best-selling vehicle. For buyers who want a refined small SUV rather than something flashy, the XC60’s restrained styling and premium feel are a big part of the draw.

For 2025, the XC60 sits in Volvo’s second generation with fuel-efficient four-cylinder powertrains and a plug-in hybrid in the lineup. Standard safety equipment remains a major strength, and the model’s reputation is reinforced by the fact that, apart from the 2025 model year, the XC60 has made the IIHS Top Safety Pick or Top Safety Pick+ list since it entered North America for the 2010 model year.

There are a few trade-offs to keep in mind. The source describes the design as dated to some observers, and the cons list points to jerky acceleration and braking, tight rear-seat legroom, and the fact that the second generation can be pricey. Even so, the 2025 XC60 remains appealing for shoppers who value safety, a premium cabin, and a polished, understated character over outright space or sporty driving manners.

35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you a decent chance of finding a competitive offer.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Volvo XC60?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 128 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.15% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $53,826 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Volvo XC60's resale value?

The current average of $61,161 CAD sits slightly below last year's $62,502 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more selectively today. For a future seller, it also means resale value may depend more on condition, mileage, and equipment than on broad market momentum. If you keep the vehicle well maintained and price it competitively, you should be in a better position when it’s time to sell.

Should I buy a 2025 Volvo XC60 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.15% compared with last year.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It adds a larger touchscreen and updated infotainment.

The bottom line: The 2025 is the better primary path if you want a softer-used-price opportunity and a broad pool of listings to compare. If you’re more focused on newer tech and can stretch your budget, the 2026 is the stronger secondary path.
