How much does the 2025 Toyota 4Runner cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

Is the 2025 Toyota 4Runner a good car?

Yes — the 2025 Toyota 4Runner earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating.

The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Performance, Form and function, and Cost effectiveness.

It keeps the familiar 4Runner formula while adding more capability, power, comfort, and technology, and it is still aimed at you if you want a solid all-terrain vehicle that can extend your adventures further. It is also more composed on pavement, which broadens its appeal beyond off-road use.

One trade-off is limited rear-seat space, and another is that the snorkel on the Trailhunter can add wind noise on longer drives.

18.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 Toyota 4Runner reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2025 Toyota 4Runner is presented as a redesigned model that keeps its rugged character while adding more capability, power, comfort, and technology. It is also described as more efficient and more composed on pavement, which points to a more modern and usable ownership experience than before.

Toyota’s reputation for reliability is reinforced by the model’s strong efficiency and durability focus, and the standard powertrain setup is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission that promises improved acceleration and fuel economy over the previous unit. The hybrid adds a more potent powertrain rather than a typical fuel-sipping setup, which may appeal if you want stronger low-speed response.

If you plan to keep it for the long haul, the main used-buying risk is accepting a truck-based SUV with some comfort and space compromises.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Toyota 4Runner?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base SR5 gives you the core 4Runner experience, while higher trims add more capability and equipment. The lineup also includes more adventure-focused versions, and the top TRD Pro and Trailhunter models are the most capable.
• Powertrain: You can choose a 2.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder with 317 horsepower and 278 pound-feet of torque, or the Hybrid i-Force Max with 326 hp and 465 lb-ft. The hybrid is the stronger choice if you want more usable low-speed power for off-roading.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard and includes frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, a traffic sign reader, automatic high beams, and Proactive Driving Assist. In Canada, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert is also standard.
• Infotainment: You get an 8-inch touchscreen standard, with a 14-inch screen available. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are wireless, and a charging pad is offered. A digital instrument panel is included with all Hybrid variants and in most extra-cost packages on gas models.
• Fuel efficiency: The standard four-cylinder is estimated at 12.4 L/100 km city, 9.6 highway, and 11.2 combined. The hybrid is estimated at 10.3 L/100 km city, 9.5 highway, and 9.9 combined.

Which 2025 Toyota 4Runner trim should I buy?

The 2025 Toyota 4Runner is offered in 8 trim levels: SR5, Limited, Platinum, TRD Off-Road Premium, TRD Pro, Trailhunter, and the hybrid versions of Limited and Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• SR5: This is the entry point and the best-value starting place if you want the redesigned 4Runner’s core capability without paying for extra luxury or off-road hardware.
• Limited: Choose this if you want a more road-focused, better-equipped version, especially if you value the available full-time 4WD setup.
• Platinum: This is the more upscale choice, and it also gets the available full-time 4WD setup.
• TRD Off-Road Premium: This is the sweet spot if you want serious trail ability without jumping all the way to the most expensive adventure trims.
• TRD Pro: Pick this if you want the most capable factory off-road setup and you plan to use it hard.
• Trailhunter: This is the most specialised adventure model, and it is the one to buy if overlanding-style equipment matters most to you.
• Limited Hybrid: Choose this if you want the Limited’s comfort and the stronger hybrid powertrain.
• Platinum Hybrid: Choose this if you want the most upscale trim with the hybrid powertrain.

Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard across the lineup, and the blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert is standard in Canada.

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without expecting deep discounts everywhere.

• Deal availability: 18.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 98 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.

What is the 2025 Toyota 4Runner's resale value?

The current average of $71,728 CAD sits slightly above last year's $71,522 CAD.

That small increase suggests the market has stayed resilient rather than softening. For you as a future seller, that kind of stability can help support stronger retained value if demand remains steady.

The 4Runner’s redesign, strong capability, and broad appeal should help it stay relevant with used buyers. Its reputation for reliability and its mix of off-road ability and improved refinement also work in its favour.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Toyota 4Runner safe?

The 2025 Toyota 4Runner does not yet have crash test results from either NHTSA or IIHS.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 comes standard and includes frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, a traffic sign reader, automatic high beams, and Proactive Driving Assist. In Canada, you also get a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert as standard.

One caveat is that Proactive Driving Assist can feel too intrusive for some drivers, though you can disable it.

Should I buy a 2025 Toyota 4Runner or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 18.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings a long-awaited redesign with more capability, power, comfort, and technology.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $57,816 CAD, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $71,728 CAD average.
• It remains a rugged, reliable off-road SUV with plenty of cargo space.

The bottom line: If you want the newer design, stronger powertrain choices, and better refinement, the 2025 is the better all-around pick. If your priority is spending less and you mainly want the classic 4Runner formula, the 2024 is the more budget-friendly path.
