Used 2024 Subaru Outback for Sale nearNanaimo, BC

How much does the 2024 Subaru Outback cost?

Prices have softened 13.79% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 358 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Subaru Outback a good car?

Yes — you’re looking at a 4.5/5 model with an expert rating of 7.8/10. The model scores 9/10 across Cost effectiveness and Safety.

The Outback’s appeal is its raised wagon shape, excellent visibility, spacious interior, and comfortable ride, which give you SUV-like practicality without the bulk. It also offers a broad trim range, so you can shop for a simpler, more affordable version or move up to a more premium-feeling one.

The main trade-offs are the underwhelming base engine and the dated infotainment system. If you value comfort, practicality, and a distinctive body style over flashier tech, it fits that brief well.

Only 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market is selective rather than flooded with bargains.

Is the 2024 Subaru Outback reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Outback’s standard all-wheel drive, strong safety ratings, and practical design all point to a vehicle built for steady everyday use. The expert review also highlights its comfortable ride and broad usefulness, which are the kinds of traits that usually matter most over the long haul.

Its powertrain lineup is straightforward, with a base engine and a more powerful turbo option, and the turbo setup is described as a better fit for the vehicle’s weight. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is choosing a base-engine example if you expect stronger acceleration or frequent highway passing.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Subaru Outback?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Convenience and Touring use cloth seats, while Onyx and Wilderness get Subaru’s StarTex synthetic leather and the Limited trims use standard leather seating surfaces. The Premier XT adds the most chrome, a Java Brown Nappa leather interior, a digital rearview mirror, and a driver-attention monitor.
• Powertrain: The default engine is a 2.5-litre flat-four with 182 horsepower and 176 lb-ft of torque, while XT trims and the Wilderness use a 2.4-litre turbocharged boxer four-cylinder with 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque. The turbo setup is the stronger choice if you want better performance and more towing capacity.
• Safety package: EyeSight is standard and includes adaptive cruise control with lane-centring, automatic pre-collision braking, and lane-keep assist. Touring adds automatic emergency steering, blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and reverse automatic braking; Limited and Premier XT also add the driver-attention monitor.
• Infotainment: The Convenience trim keeps the dual-7-inch-screen system, while other trims get an 11.6-inch portrait-oriented screen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and wireless connectivity starts with Touring.
• Fuel efficiency: The base engine is rated at 9.2 L/100 km in the city, 7.3 on the highway, and 8.3 combined. The turbo engine is rated at 10.6 city, 8.1 highway, and 9.5 combined, while the Wilderness is rated at 11.0 city, 9.0 highway, and 10.1 combined.

Which 2024 Subaru Outback trim should I buy?

The 2024 Subaru Outback is offered in 7 trim levels: Convenience, Touring, Onyx, Limited, Wilderness, Limited XT, and Premier XT.

Here's the short version:

• Convenience: This is the most affordable way into the Outback, but it also keeps the simpler dual-7-inch-screen setup and cloth seats, so it makes the most sense if you want the lowest entry price and can live without the richer tech and materials.
• Touring: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus important safety upgrades like automatic emergency steering, blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and reverse automatic braking.
• Onyx: Choose this if you want a darker look and StarTex synthetic leather, along with the 18-inch black wheels that give it a more distinctive appearance.
• Limited: This is the step up if you want standard leather seating surfaces and the driver-attention monitor, making it a good fit if you want a more upscale cabin without going all the way to the top trims.
• Wilderness: Pick this if you want the turbo engine, higher ground clearance, all-terrain tires, and the advanced dual-function X-Mode system with Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow/Mud modes.
• Limited XT: This is the more premium turbo choice if you want the stronger engine plus the Limited trim’s comfort and safety upgrades.
• Premier XT: This is the most luxurious version, with the turbo engine, the 11.6-inch screen, Nappa leather, the digital rearview mirror, and the most upscale interior presentation.

The Touring is the best-value trim for most buyers, while the Wilderness is the one to target if you want the turbo engine and extra capability.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Subaru Outback?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 358 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.79% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $34,409 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Subaru Outback's resale value?

The current average of $34,424 CAD sits slightly below last year's $39,930 CAD.

That price drop suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to be realistic about pricing if they want to move quickly. The current average is still close to the year-round low, which can help support demand from shoppers looking for value.

Because the Outback has a broad trim spread and strong utility appeal, well-equipped examples should remain easier to market than more ordinary used crossovers. If prices stay near today’s level, sellers may need to lean on condition, equipment, and service history to stand out.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Subaru Outback safe?

The 2024 Subaru Outback earned a Top Safety Pick award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and five-star ratings overall from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

EyeSight is standard on all trims and includes adaptive cruise control with lane-centring, automatic pre-collision braking, and lane-keep assist. A backup camera and high-beam assist are also standard, and Subaru added a wide-angle camera for 2024 to improve detection of cyclists and pedestrians.

There are a few trim-level gaps to keep in mind. Automatic emergency steering, blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and reverse automatic braking start with Touring, while the driver-attention monitor is reserved for Limited and Premier XT, with Premier XT also getting a digital rearview mirror.

Should I buy a 2024 Subaru Outback or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.79% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It keeps the wagon shape, strong safety ratings, and broad trim range while adding feature-enriched trims and trim-specific aesthetic tweaks.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $31,385 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $34,424 CAD average.
• It adds fresh styling, new infotainment and safety tech, and the Onyx Edition.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $39,756 CAD, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $34,424 CAD average.
• It remains a distinctive wagon with standard all-wheel drive and a comfortable ride.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of current pricing, strong safety, and broad trim choice, the 2024 is the main target. If your budget is tighter, the 2023 offers a lower entry price and many of the same core strengths.
