Used 2023 Kia Soul for SaleNationwide

How much does the 2023 Kia Soul cost?

Prices have softened 10.56% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 122 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Kia Soul a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Kia Soul earns a 4.62/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Cost effectiveness.

Owners consistently praise its value, spacious interior, and enjoyable ride, and the review summary also points to driving comfort and safety features as strengths. That lines up well with the Soul’s use case as a practical, good-value small vehicle with an upright driving position and a distinctive shape that makes it stand out in a crowded segment.

The trade-offs are clear: performance is fairly pedestrian, and the seats are uncomfortable. Even so, if you want a compact vehicle that prioritises personality, practicality, and price over speed, the Soul fits that brief well.

Only 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market has some value opportunities, but you may need to shop carefully.

Is the 2023 Kia Soul reliable?

Owners rate it 4.62/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with praise for the Soul’s value, safety features, and driving comfort. That kind of feedback matters if you want a used vehicle you can count on for everyday commuting and family duties.

From an expert perspective, the Soul’s basic package is described as solid and stress-free, and the transmission is noted for avoiding many of the usual CVT complaints. Kia’s warranty coverage also helps reduce early ownership risk.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about choosing a trim that gives you the features you want without stretching beyond your budget.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Kia Soul?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base trims are more basic, while higher trims add more comfort and convenience. Heated front seats are standard, a heated steering wheel arrives from the EX grade, and dual-zone automatic climate control is standard from the EX Premium trim level. If you want the most complete feature set, the GT-Line Limited adds power-adjustable front seats, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a sunroof, and leather seats.
• Powertrain: You get a single 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque, paired with a CVT and front-wheel drive. The turbocharged engine is no longer offered, and all-wheel drive is not available.
• Safety package: Driver-assistance features start at the EX trim, including forward collision avoidance assist, automatic emergency braking, lane follow assist, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Higher trims add junction-turning capability, navigation-based adaptive cruise control, and Highway Drive Assist.
• Infotainment: The LX, EX, and EX+ use an 8-inch touchscreen with a digital instrument cluster. Higher trims get a 10.25-inch touchscreen with navigation, wireless phone charging, and two USB centre console charge ports. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included with the smaller screen, while the larger screen uses wired versions.
• Fuel efficiency: Gas-powered models are rated at 8.5 L/100 km in city driving, 7.0 L/100 km on the highway, and 7.9 L/100 km combined.

Which 2023 Kia Soul trim should I buy?

The 2023 Kia Soul is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, EX, EX+, EX Premium, and GT-Line Limited.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Soul’s core personality and standard heated front seats, plus the 8-inch touchscreen and digital instrument cluster. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model, but it is the most stripped-back choice.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the main driver-assistance features, including forward collision avoidance assist, automatic emergency braking, lane follow assist, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. It also adds a heated steering wheel, which is a useful Canadian comfort upgrade.
• EX+: This trim keeps the same basic formula as the EX but moves you toward the larger-screen infotainment setup and more convenience-focused equipment. It suits you if you want a more polished daily driver without jumping all the way to the top trims.
• EX Premium: This is the trim to target if you want the more complete comfort and tech package, including the 10.25-inch touchscreen with navigation, wireless phone charging, dual-zone automatic climate control, and the larger-screen setup. It is the sweet spot if you want a well-equipped Soul without paying for the most luxurious trim.
• GT-Line Limited: This is the most upscale and distinctive version, with the most equipment, including the Harman Kardon audio system, sunroof, leather seats, power-adjustable front seats, heated and ventilated front seats, and heated rear seats. Choose it if you want the fullest feature set and the most premium feel.

Safety features begin at the EX trim, so if driver assistance matters to you, avoid the base LX.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Kia Soul?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to compare listings and wait for the right one.

• Deal availability: 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 122 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.56% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $20,852 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Kia Soul's resale value?

The current average of $21,171 CAD sits slightly below last year's $23,670 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the Soul is currently more buyer-friendly than it was a year ago, which can work against short-term resale if you plan to sell soon. On the other hand, it may help you buy at a more attractive entry point today.

Because the model has a strong value reputation and broad appeal as a practical small vehicle, it should remain reasonably easy to move in the used market. Well-equipped trims may hold interest better than bare-bones examples, especially if they include the safety and comfort features shoppers now expect.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.62/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Kia Soul safe?

The 2023 Kia Soul earns Good ratings in all IIHS crash-test categories, but it receives an Acceptable rating for child-seat anchor ease of use. It earns four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover, and five-star ratings in side-impact protection from NHTSA.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Most driver-assistance features are included starting at the EX trim, including forward collision avoidance assist, automatic emergency braking, lane follow assist, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Higher trims add junction-turning capability, navigation-based adaptive cruise control, and Highway Drive Assist with automated lane centring.

The main caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard on the base trim, so you need to move up the lineup to get the fuller suite of protection tech.

Should I buy a 2023 Kia Soul or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.56% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.62/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 brings styling updates and a broad Canadian trim line-up, while keeping the Soul’s practical, distinctive character.

The bottom line: If you want the freshest version of this generation with updated styling and a wide trim range, the 2023 is the one to target. If your priority is simply the lowest possible purchase price, a nearby model year may be worth comparing, but the 2023’s softer pricing and strong owner satisfaction make it a sensible place to start.
