CarGurus Analysis: 2023 Genesis G70
overall

Summary
With 67 currently listed for sale and an average price of $37,081 CAD, 29.9% of 2023 Genesis G70 listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2023 Genesis G70 4.57 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8.33 / 10.
Why it stands out
The 2023 Genesis G70 stands out as a small luxury sedan that blends style, performance, and everyday usability in a way that feels well judged for the segment. Genesis says the G70 was launched for the 2019 model year and received a major update for 2022, including a restyling to bring it in line with other current Genesis models; for 2023, it carries over unchanged. That makes this version appealing to buyers who want a current-looking luxury sedan without the distraction of a fresh redesign.
In Canada, the 2023 Genesis G70 comes with standard all-wheel drive, and Genesis offers a choice of 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder and 3.3-litre twin-turbocharged V6 powertrains. Four-cylinder models are available in Select, Advanced, and Prestige trim levels, while V6 models start at Advanced and top out with the Sport trim level. The result is a lineup that can be tailored from a more accessible entry point to a more powerful, better-equipped version, while still keeping the G70’s core identity intact.
What makes the 2023 Genesis G70 especially appealing is how complete it feels as a small luxury sedan. Genesis describes it as stylish, fun to drive, and easy to use, and owners also praise its beautiful design, performance, luxurious interior, and value compared with other luxury brands. The main trade-offs are worth noting, though: the V6 is said to have poor fuel economy, and the car does not offer much cargo space.

This is the Sport Prestige package and my lord is it amazing. The interior is comfy, looks nice and the features suit my needs. The Siberian ice is stunning with its aftermarket wheels. I was considering this, a ct4v blackwing, is500 or the new scat pack and I just felt this car is of better value.

How much does the 2023 Genesis G70 cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $37,411 CAD |
| Year-Round Low | $36,227 CAD |
| Year-Round High | $40,880 CAD |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $40,372 CAD |
| Change vs. Last Year | −7.33% |
Prices have softened 7.33% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.
There are 65 listings available, which suggests a modest amount of inventory for you to compare.
Is the 2023 Genesis G70 a good car?
Yes — the 2023 Genesis G70 earns a 4.57/5 user rating and an 8.33/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Performance, and Safety.
Owners consistently praise its beautiful design, performance, and value compared with other luxury brands. They also highlight its luxurious interior and powerful handling, while the car’s distinctive styling helps it stand apart from more familiar rivals.
The trade-offs are worth keeping in mind: the V6’s fuel economy is poor, and cargo space is limited. Even so, if you want a compact luxury sedan that blends style, driving enjoyment, and usability, the G70 fits that brief well.
With 30.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s a decent amount of market value to be found.
Is the 2023 Genesis G70 reliable?
Owners rate it 4.57/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Owner feedback points to a car that feels dependable, with praise centred on its value, performance, and overall ownership experience. The expert evaluation also supports that impression by describing the G70 as a well-rounded small luxury sedan with a strong chassis, intuitive tech, and a solid standard safety package.
Genesis also includes five years of scheduled maintenance with at-home vehicle pick-up and delivery, which helps reduce early ownership hassle. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that depreciation and resale concerns may weigh on total ownership cost.
What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Genesis G70?
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The standard car includes leatherette seating, while higher trims add leather or Nappa leather, plus features such as ventilated front seats, Brembo brakes, and a power sunroof. If you want the most upscale cabin, you’ll need to move up the trim ladder.
- Powertrain: You can choose between a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder and a 3.3-litre twin-turbocharged V6. Both use premium fuel for maximum power, and the V6 is the stronger choice if you want the quickest version.
- Safety package: Standard driver aids include forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, a driver-attention monitor, automatic high beams, rear-seat reminder, safe-exit assist, and Highway Driving Assist. Upper trims add front and rear park distance control, rain-sensing wipers, and a blind-spot view camera system.
- Infotainment: The standard setup uses a 10.25-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus Bluetooth and SiriusXM. Wireless smartphone mirroring is not available, and the car does not get a fully digital instrument cluster.
- Fuel efficiency: The four-cylinder is rated at 11.4 L/100 km in the city, 8.2 L/100 km on the highway, and 10.0 L/100 km combined. The V6 is rated at 13.5 L/100 km city, 9.1 L/100 km highway, and 11.5 L/100 km combined.
Which 2023 Genesis G70 trim should I buy?
The 2023 Genesis G70 is offered in 5 trim levels: 2.0T Select, 2.0T Advanced, 2.0T Prestige, 3.3T Advanced, 3.3T Sport.
Here's the short version:
- 2.0T Select: This is the entry point, and it gives you the G70’s core appeal at the lowest price. It’s the best-value trim if you want the styling, standard safety tech, and easy-to-use infotainment without paying for extras you may not need.
- 2.0T Advanced: This trim adds more comfort and convenience equipment while staying with the four-cylinder powertrain. It makes sense if you want a better-equipped daily driver without jumping to the V6.
- 2.0T Prestige: This is the most luxurious four-cylinder choice, with the richest feature set in the 2.0T lineup. Choose it if cabin upgrades matter more to you than outright speed.
- 3.3T Advanced: This is the entry point to the V6, so it’s the trim to target if you want stronger performance but do not need the full Sport specification.
- 3.3T Sport: This is the most complete and most performance-focused version, with the strongest equipment mix and the highest-end feel. It suits you best if you want the quickest G70 and are willing to pay for it.
Safety equipment is generous across the lineup, and Highway Driving Assist is standard.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Genesis G70?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you have room to shop carefully rather than rush.
- Deal availability: 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 65 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.33% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $36,227 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2023 Genesis G70's resale value?
The current average of $37,411 CAD sits slightly below last year's $40,372 CAD.
That price movement suggests the G70 has become more accessible for used buyers, but it also means sellers may face more competition when they go to market. If you own one, pricing it too aggressively could slow interest, especially with a relatively modest inventory pool. On the other hand, the model’s strong styling and broad appeal should still help it attract attention from shoppers who want a distinctive compact luxury sedan.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.57/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2023 Genesis G70 safe?
The 2023 G70 earns the IIHS’s Top Safety Pick+ award.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Genesis equips the G70 with a long list of standard driver-assistance features, including forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, a driver-attention monitor, automatic high beams, rear-seat reminder, and safe-exit assist. Highway Driving Assist is also standard, combining adaptive cruise control with automated lane centring.
Upper trims add front and rear park distance control, rain-sensing wipers, and a blind-spot view camera system. The main caveat is that the lane-centring system can feel less smooth than some rivals, and the blind-spot camera view is limited by the car’s non-digital instrument cluster.
Should I buy a 2023 Genesis G70 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2023 if:
- 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.33% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.57/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It carries over the refreshed design and standard Highway Driving Assist from the previous update.
Consider the 2022 if:
- At $31,459 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $37,411 CAD average.
- It introduced the refreshed styling and improved infotainment.
Consider the 2024 if:
- At $40,987 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $37,411 CAD average.
- It adds a new, more powerful base engine.
The bottom line: The 2023 is the sweet spot if you want the refreshed G70 without paying the newer-model premium. If your priority is saving money, the 2022 is the better value play; if you want the latest powertrain upgrade, the 2024 is worth a look.
