Why it stands out
The 2023 Genesis G70 appears to offer everything you could want in a small luxury sedan. It is Genesis’s entry-level sedan, and for 2023 it carries over unchanged after a major update for 2022 that brought a restyle to align it with other current Genesis models. That combination of fresh styling and a compact luxury-sedan mission gives the G70 a clear identity, especially for buyers who want something that stands apart from the usual German, Japanese, and American rivals.
What makes the 2023 Genesis G70 distinctive is the way it blends style, performance, and usability. Genesis offers a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder and a 3.3-litre twin-turbocharged V6, with standard all-wheel drive in Canada. The car is also praised for being fun to drive and for having easy-to-use technology, while owners commonly highlight its beautiful design, performance, and value compared with other luxury brands. At the same time, it is not without compromises: the V6 is noted for poor fuel economy, and cargo space is limited.

This is the Sport Prestige package and my lord is it amazing. The interior is comfy, looks nice and the features suit my needs. The Siberian ice is stunning with its aftermarket wheels. I was considering this, a ct4v blackwing, is500 or the new scat pack and I just felt this car is of better value.

It has every option that is needed. The car has great value compared to other luxury vehicles. It’s a step above an 4 series BMW and Audi A 6 and 7.

Is the 2023 Genesis G70 a good car?
Yes — the 2023 Genesis G70 earns a 4.57/5 user rating and an 8.33/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Performance, and Safety.
Owners consistently praise its beautiful design, performance, and value compared with other luxury brands, and they also highlight the luxurious interior and powerful handling. The trade-offs are familiar for this segment: poor fuel economy with the V6 and limited cargo space.
For you, that means the G70 makes the most sense if you want a compact luxury sedan that feels distinctive, enjoyable to drive, and well equipped without chasing the usual German alternatives. With 32.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some attractive opportunities.
Is the 2023 Genesis G70 reliable?
Owners rate it 4.57/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also points to a car that feels dependable enough to recommend, with praise centred on its beautiful design, performance, and value. Reviewers repeatedly describe it as a model they enjoy living with over time, especially because it combines luxury-car appeal with a strong sense of quality.
On the expert side, the G70’s straightforward powertrain lineup and easy-to-use technology support a low-drama ownership experience. Genesis also includes five years of scheduled maintenance with at-home vehicle pick-up and delivery, which helps reduce early ownership hassle.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that depreciation and resale concerns may weigh on ownership costs more than mechanical worries.
What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Genesis G70?
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The four-cylinder models are available in Select, Advanced, and Prestige, while V6 models start at Advanced and top out with Sport. Base cars use leatherette seating, while higher trims add leather or Nappa leather, and the nicer cabin touches are more noticeable as you move up the range. Heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and a power sunroof are standard in Canada, but the most upscale feel comes from the upper trims.
- Powertrain: You can choose a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder or a 3.3-litre twin-turbocharged V6, both paired with an eight-speed automatic and standard all-wheel drive in Canada. The four-cylinder is the efficiency play, while the V6 is the quick, more powerful option, but it asks for premium fuel and uses more fuel.
- Safety package: Standard driver aids include forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, a driver-attention monitor, automatic high beams, rear-seat reminder, safe-exit assist, and Highway Driving Assist with automated lane centring. Upper trims add front and rear park distance control, rain-sensing wipers, and a blind-spot view camera system.
- Infotainment: The standard setup uses a 10.25-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus Bluetooth and SiriusXM satellite radio. Wireless smartphone mirroring is not available, and the car uses an analog speedometer with an 8-inch LCD display rather than a fully digital cluster.
- Fuel efficiency: The four-cylinder is rated at 11.4 L/100 km city, 8.2 highway, and 10.0 combined. The V6 is rated at 13.5 L/100 km city, 9.1 highway, and 11.5 combined, and our test week returned 12.1 L/100 km.
Which 2023 Genesis G70 trim should I buy?
The 2023 Genesis G70 is offered in 6 trim levels: Select, Advanced, Prestige, Advanced, Sport, and 3.3T Sport.
Here's the short version:
- Select: This is the entry point and the best-value starting place if you want the G70’s style, standard all-wheel drive, and core luxury features without stretching the budget. It gives you the basic G70 experience, but you’ll want to move up if you care about richer cabin materials or more equipment.
- Advanced: This is the trim to target if you want a stronger balance of equipment and value. It adds more of the upscale feel that suits the G70’s luxury mission, and it makes more sense than the base trim if you plan to keep the car for a while.
- Prestige: Choose this if you want the most polished four-cylinder version and are willing to pay for the extra comfort and finish. It suits buyers who care more about cabin ambience and feature content than keeping the purchase price down.
- Advanced: On the V6 side, this is the starting point and the sensible choice if you want the stronger engine without jumping straight to the top trim. It gives you the performance advantage of the 3.3T while keeping the G70’s value proposition intact.
- Sport: This is the best choice if you want the most complete and engaging G70 experience. It brings the highest level of equipment in the lineup, including the richer interior presentation and performance-oriented hardware, and it is the trim that best matches the car’s sporty personality.
- 3.3T Sport: This is the one to buy if you want the fully loaded V6 version and care most about performance and equipment. It is the most expensive path, but it also delivers the strongest combination of power and premium content.
The safety package is generous across the lineup, but the blind-spot view camera system and some parking features are reserved for upper trims.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Genesis G70?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully and enough price movement to create opportunities.
- Deal availability: 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 65 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 5.62% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $36,190 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2023 Genesis G70's resale value?
The current average of $37,506 CAD sits slightly below last year's $39,739 CAD.
That softer pricing suggests the market has become a little more buyer-friendly, which can work against a seller trying to maximise return. At the same time, it may help your car stand out if you price it competitively and present it well.
The G70’s strong styling, performance appeal, and luxury-brand value proposition should help it stay relevant with shoppers looking for something different. But owner concerns about depreciation mean you should expect resale to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.57/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2023 Genesis G70 safe?
The 2023 G70 earns the IIHS’s Top Safety Pick+ award.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Genesis equips the G70 with a strong standard safety suite that includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, a driver-attention monitor, automatic high beams, rear-seat reminder, and safe-exit assist. Highway Driving Assist is also standard, combining adaptive cruise control with automated lane centring.
Upper trims add front and rear park distance control, rain-sensing wipers, and a blind-spot view camera system. The main caveat is that Highway Driving Assist is meant for highway use only and requires you to keep your hands on the wheel.
Should I buy a 2023 Genesis G70 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2023 if:
- 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 5.62% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.57/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2023 carries over the refreshed design and strong standard safety tech from the prior update.
Consider the 2022 if:
- At $31,021 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $37,506 CAD average.
- It brings the refreshed styling and improved infotainment update.
Consider the 2024 if:
- At $40,682 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $37,506 CAD average.
- It adds a new, more powerful base engine.
The bottom line: If you want the best mix of price, styling, and standard safety, the 2023 is the sensible pick. If your priority is saving money, the 2022 is the value play; if you want the newest powertrain development, the 2024 is worth a look.
