Is the 2023 GMC Sierra 3500HD a good car?

The 2023 GMC Sierra 3500HD is a heavy-duty truck that blends serious work capability with a more polished feel than many buyers expect from a one-ton pickup. It is built for real hauling and towing work, but it also offers the kind of refinement that makes it easier to live with every day.

For 2023, it offers two 6.6-litre V8 engines, a broad range of cab, bed, and rear-axle combinations, and maximum payload and towing figures that reach 3,375 kilograms and 16,100 kilograms when properly equipped. Features such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, trailering aids, and available safety technology help it feel more modern than its size and purpose might suggest.

If you want a heavy-duty pickup with strong towing credentials, a broad configuration range, and a more upscale personality than the average work truck, this model fits that brief well. 25.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 GMC Sierra 3500HD reliable?

The 2023 GMC Sierra 3500HD is presented as a heavy-duty truck that prioritises capability, refinement, and everyday usability in a commercial-grade package. Its appeal comes from its broad configuration range and its ability to handle serious hauling and towing work while still feeling more polished than many trucks in its class.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the truck’s size, complexity, and heavy-duty mission can make maintenance and repair costs more consequential than they would be on a lighter-duty vehicle.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 GMC Sierra 3500HD?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without assuming every listing is a bargain.

• Deal availability: 25.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 194 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.73% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $71,433 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 GMC Sierra 3500HD's resale value?

The current average of $71,433 CAD sits slightly below last year's $76,590 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has softened, which can help you as a buyer today but may temper resale expectations if you plan to sell later. If you own one for the long term, the truck’s value will likely depend heavily on condition, configuration, and how well it has been maintained. For a future seller, the current trend points to a market that is still active, but not especially strong on pricing momentum.

Should I buy a 2023 GMC Sierra 3500HD or consider a different year?
