Used 2023 Ford Escape for Sale near Alberta

How much does the 2023 Ford Escape cost?

Prices have softened 9.71% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 561 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Ford Escape a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Ford Escape earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.2/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Performance, Technology, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its performance, interior comfort, modern features, spaciousness, smooth handling, and commendable fuel efficiency. For shoppers who want a stylish and practical compact crossover with a tech-forward feel, that combination is a strong fit.

The trade-offs are that it can feel a bit cramped, and it sits on the higher end of the segment for price. Even so, it remains a sensible choice if you value comfort, technology, and an available powerful engine. With 34.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some market opportunity if you shop carefully.

Is the 2023 Ford Escape reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners describe it as dependable, with praise centred on its performance, interior comfort, modern features, and practicality. The expert review also points to a well-organised, easy-to-use technology suite and a powertrain lineup that gives you flexibility.

Ford’s standard safety suite adds to the sense that this is a vehicle you can count on day to day. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright dependability and more about whether the cabin quality and value proposition still feel acceptable to you.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Ford Escape?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The trim ladder starts at Active and moves up through ST-Line, ST-Line Select, Platinum, and ST-Line Elite. The base trim is the most stripped-down choice, while higher trims add a more upscale look and more equipment.
• Powertrain: You can get a 1.5-litre turbocharged three-cylinder with 180 horsepower and 199 pound-feet of torque, or a 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder with 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. The stronger engine is paired exclusively with AWD and is better for passing and merging.
• Safety package: Co-Pilot360 is standard and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high beams. Co-Pilot360 2.0 adds adaptive cruise control, road sign recognition, lane-centring technology, and a surround-view camera.
• Infotainment: Lower trims get an 8-inch touchscreen, while all trims can be equipped with a 13.2-inch screen, standard on Platinum and ST-Line Elite. Sync 4 is included, and wireless capability is not stated.
• Fuel efficiency: The 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder is rated at 10.2 L/100 km in the city, 7.6 on the highway, and 9.1 combined. The 1.5-litre FWD version returns 8.9 L/100 km city, 6.9 highway, and 8.0 combined.

Which 2023 Ford Escape trim should I buy?

The 2023 Ford Escape is offered in 5 trim levels: Active, ST-Line, ST-Line Select, Platinum, and ST-Line Elite.

Here's the short version:

• Active: This is the entry point if you want the Escape’s core comfort, safety, and technology without stretching your budget. It makes the most sense if you mainly want the model’s standard equipment and don’t need the larger screen or stronger engine.
• ST-Line: This is the first step up if you want a sportier appearance and a better-equipped feel without jumping too far in price. It’s the trim to consider if you want a balanced mix of value and style.
• ST-Line Select: This is the best-value choice if you want the 2.0-litre engine and the stronger passing power that comes with it. It’s the trim that most clearly adds capability over the lower trims.
• Platinum: Choose this if you want a more upscale presentation and more premium equipment. It suits you if cabin ambience matters as much as performance.
• ST-Line Elite: This is the most fully equipped version, with the 13.2-inch screen standard and the strongest feature set. It’s the right pick if you want the most technology and the most polished overall package.

Co-Pilot360 is standard, and Co-Pilot360 2.0 is available on higher trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Ford Escape?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and move quickly on the right one.

• Deal availability: 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 561 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.71% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $26,013 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Ford Escape's resale value?

The current average of $26,093 CAD sits slightly below last year's $28,900 CAD.

That decline suggests the Escape has become more affordable for used buyers, but it also means sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you plan to sell later, the current trend points to a market that is still adjusting downward rather than rebounding sharply.

For you as a future seller, that means condition, trim, and equipment will matter more if you want to protect value. Well-equipped examples should be easier to market than bare-bones ones, especially if they present cleanly and have desirable technology.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Ford Escape safe?

The 2023 Ford Escape earns an impressive five-star overall rating from NHTSA, with five-star ratings in frontal- and side-crash tests and a four-star rating in the rollover test. It did not earn a Top Safety Pick or Top Safety Pick+ designation from IIHS, after receiving a Marginal score in the updated side-impact test.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford’s standard Co-Pilot360 suite includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high beams. Co-Pilot360 2.0 adds adaptive cruise control, road sign recognition, lane-centring technology, and a surround-view camera.

The main caveat is the IIHS side-impact result, which is weaker than the rest of the safety picture. If that matters to you, it’s worth paying close attention to trim and equipment when shopping used.

Should I buy a 2023 Ford Escape or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.71% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines strong technology with an available powerful engine.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $27,800 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $26,093 CAD average.
• It carries over without major changes after the 2023 makeover.

The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2023 is the smarter buy because it already delivers the key strengths at a lower average price. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model year with carryover familiarity, the 2024 remains a reasonable alternative.
