Used 2022 Toyota Tacoma for Sale nearMontreal, QC

How much does the 2022 Toyota Tacoma cost?

Prices have softened 5.61% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 337 listings available, which gives you a decent amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Toyota Tacoma a good car?

Generally — you’re looking at a 4.4/5 user-rated truck with an expert score of 7.5/10. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its reliability, fuel economy, and off-road capability, and they also like its resale value and overall performance in rough terrain. The Tacoma’s appeal is strongest if you want a smaller truck that can handle commuting during the week and outdoor trips on the weekend.

The trade-offs are familiar: the base engine is underwhelming, the back seat is cramped, and the ride quality is poor. It fits best if you value capability and everyday usefulness more than cabin space or the latest tech.

Only 27.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market is selective rather than flooded with bargains.

Is the 2022 Toyota Tacoma reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Drivers describe it as reliable, dependable, and trouble-free, with strong confidence in its long-term durability and ability to be counted on. The truck’s reputation for durability is reinforced by expert impressions that call it a supremely trusty vehicle built for hard use.

Toyota also positions it as a truck that’s built for whatever activity you throw at it, which supports the case for long-term ownership. For used buyers, the main risk is less about basic dependability and more about living with its age-related compromises over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Toyota Tacoma?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Tacoma’s standard setup includes 16-inch steel wheels, a manually sliding rear window, air conditioning, an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, a trio of USB ports, a 4.2-inch colour display, a 7-inch touchscreen, and Toyota Safety Sense. Higher trims add features such as alloy wheels, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, wireless device charging, leather seating, blind spot monitoring, and a power-sliding and tilting moonroof.
• Powertrain: In Canada, the Tacoma uses a 3.5-litre V6 with 278 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque, standard 4WD, and either a six-speed automatic or six-speed manual transmission. It has strong trail ability, but the gearing and transmission can make highway acceleration feel less confident.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense is standard and includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, and lane-departure warning. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are optional, so check whether a used example has them.
• Infotainment: The base system uses a 7-inch touchscreen, while all packages add an 8-inch touchscreen and SiriusXM satellite radio. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are supported, and the layout is simple and easy to use.
• Fuel efficiency: The V6 with 4WD and a manual transmission returns 13.8 L/100 km in city driving, 11.4 L/100 km on the highway, and 12.7 L/100 km combined. With the automatic, it uses 13.0 L/100 km city, 10.5 L/100 km highway, and 11.8 L/100 km combined.

Which 2022 Toyota Tacoma trim should I buy?

The 2022 Toyota Tacoma is offered in 6 trim levels: standard/Trail, SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Sport Premium, TRD Off-road, and TRD Pro.

Here's the short version:

• standard/Trail: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Tacoma experience with the standard safety suite, basic infotainment, and the essential truck hardware. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model, but it leaves out the nicer convenience and comfort upgrades found higher up.
• SR5: This trim adds 16-inch alloy wheels, fog lights, heated front seats, and an 8-inch touchscreen. It’s the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds useful everyday comfort without pushing too far up the price ladder.
• TRD Sport: This one adds 17-inch alloy wheels, a TRD-tuned sport suspension, push-button start, dual-zone automatic climate control, a leather-wrapped shift-knob, wireless device charging, and a power-sliding rear window. It suits you if you want a more polished and better-equipped Tacoma for mixed driving.
• TRD Sport Premium: This trim builds on the TRD Sport with more upscale equipment, making it the better pick if you want extra comfort and convenience features without moving into the more trail-focused trims.
• TRD Off-road: This version gets 16-inch alloy wheels with all-terrain tires, a more trail-oriented suspension with Bilstein shocks, a locking rear differential, and multi-terrain select. It’s the right choice if off-road use matters most.
• TRD Pro: The range-topper adds unique exterior styling and badging, underbody skid plates, upgraded LED fog lights, and a TRD-tuned suspension. It’s the one to buy if you want the most capable and most distinctive Tacoma.

Toyota Safety Sense is standard across the range, while blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert remain optional.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Toyota Tacoma?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully rather than rush.

• Deal availability: 27.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 337 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.61% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $43,494 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Toyota Tacoma's resale value?

The current average of $43,623 CAD sits slightly below last year's $46,217 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the Tacoma is still in demand, but buyers have a bit more leverage than they did a year ago. If you buy well now, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation later because the market has already adjusted downward. Strong owner satisfaction should also help keep interest steady when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Toyota Tacoma safe?

The 2022 Tacoma earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA, with four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover tests and five-star ratings in side crash tests.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense is standard and includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, adaptive cruise control, and lane-departure warning. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are optional, so you should check whether a used example has those features.

The main caveat is that the backup camera image is very grainy, so you’ll want to pay extra attention when reversing.

Should I buy a 2022 Toyota Tacoma or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 27.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.61% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It balances strong off-road ability with easy-to-use technology.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $43,013 CAD, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $43,623 CAD average.
• It adds fresh special editions and standard dual-zone climate control.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $48,024 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $43,623 CAD average.
• It leans harder into reliability and off-road brilliance.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the best all-around pick if you want the Tacoma’s core strengths with a softer used-market price than newer examples. If you’re especially price-sensitive, the 2021 is the smarter value play; if you want the strongest reputation and can spend more, the 2023 is worth a look.
