Why it stands out
The 2022 Jeep Cherokee stands out as a compact SUV that still leans into Jeep’s identity, even as it moved in a much softer direction than the brand’s older off-road models. By this point in the third generation, it offered a mix of everyday usability and trail-ready hardware that helped separate it from more ordinary crossovers. Buyers could still find the Cherokee appealing for its available four-wheel-drive capability, good styling, and value, while the model’s reputation also carried some of the rugged character that has long defined the nameplate.
For 2022, the 8.4-inch touchscreen became standard on all trims, and a new X trim borrowed some of the Trailhawk’s features, including the V6 and suspension lift.
