CarGurus Analysis: 2022 Hyundai Tucson
overall

Summary
With 478 currently listed for sale and an average price of $22,817 CAD, 31.8% of 2022 Hyundai Tucson listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2022 Hyundai Tucson 4.82 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8.33 / 10.
Why it stands out
The 2022 Hyundai Tucson stands out first for its redesign, which made it longer and wider than before and gave it more cargo and passenger space. That extra room is a major part of its appeal in the compact SUV class, especially for buyers who want a practical family vehicle without moving up to something larger.
Hyundai also gave the 2022 Tucson a high-tech cabin, a comfortable ride, a competent engine lineup, and a spacious cargo area. Those strengths make it a well-rounded choice for shoppers who value comfort and everyday usability as much as style and features. At the same time, some owners have noted that engine power can feel lacking and that they would like more cargo space or larger cupholders, so it is not the most powerful or most generous in every respect.

I love all the bells and whistles! The ability to set all your personal preferences-seat settings, heat/air,radio,phone,dash board view, and with your name! The blind spots are nice. It was a great deal with decent low mileage, limited AWD, I got more for my money. Fully covered with great warrantys

I LOVE this car! I researched and waited for the right one for months! I am so pleased with how smooth it drives and the fancy features! My know knock would be the lack of power. It doesn’t accelerate very quickly but I didn’t really expect it to. Overall I’m obsessed and can’t wait to drive it for many years to come

| Current Average Price | $22,812 CAD |
| Year-Round Low | $22,755 CAD |
| Year-Round High | $26,545 CAD |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $26,545 CAD |
| Change vs. Last Year | −14.06% |
Prices have softened 14.06% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.
There are 493 listings available, which suggests healthy inventory for used shoppers.
Is the 2022 Hyundai Tucson a good car?
Yes — the 2022 Hyundai Tucson earns a 4.8/5 user rating and an 8.3/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.
You get a practical compact SUV with a spacious interior, a smooth ride, and a high-tech cabin. Owners also consistently praise its stylish design and family-friendly comfort, which line up well with its role as a roomy, everyday-use SUV. With 30.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still meaningful value in the market.
Is the 2022 Hyundai Tucson reliable?
Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Owners also describe it as dependable and trouble-free, with many saying they are extremely satisfied with their purchase. The Tucson’s competent, everyday-focused character supports that impression, and Hyundai’s 5-year/100,000-kilometre limited warranty adds some peace of mind for used buyers. For long-term ownership, the main risk is that some shoppers may still want more power or cargo flexibility than the Tucson delivers.
What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Hyundai Tucson?
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The Tucson’s standard equipment is fairly generous, but the Preferred grade adds useful upgrades such as blind-spot monitoring indicators and turn signals, heated outside mirrors, front aero wipers, and keyless entry. If you want more of the upper-trim feel, the Trend Package adds a sunroof, while higher grades bring premium fascias, skid plates, gloss black pillars, and a panoramic sunroof.
- Powertrain: You can shop the 2.5-litre four-cylinder gas engine or the hybrid powertrain with a turbocharged 1.6-litre four-cylinder and electric motor. The gas engine is competent but not especially lively, while the hybrid is the stronger and more engaging option.
- Safety package: Hyundai SmartSense includes standard forward collision-avoidance assist, lane-keeping assist, automatic high beams, a driver attention monitor, and rear occupant alert. Cyclist and pedestrian detection is added at the Preferred grade, and you can also find blind-spot warning with collision avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic alert with collision avoidance assist, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, a surround-view camera system, and remote parking assist on equipped trims.
- Infotainment: Base models get an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, HD Radio, and two USB ports. Moving up to Preferred adds satellite radio, Blue Link mobile app compatibility, rear USB outlets, rear air vents, and dual-zone automatic climate control, while higher trims can get a 10.25-inch touchscreen with navigation and a fully digital instrument cluster.
- Fuel efficiency: The gas engine is targeted at 8.2 L/100 km combined with front-wheel drive and 9.0 L/100 km with all-wheel drive. The hybrid is rated at 6.4 L/100 km combined.
Which 2022 Hyundai Tucson trim should I buy?
The 2022 Hyundai Tucson is offered in 5 trim levels: Essential, Preferred, Preferred Trend, N Line, Luxury, and Ultimate.
Here's the short version:
- Essential: This is the entry point, but it is the most basic way into the Tucson and misses some of the convenience and safety upgrades that make the model feel more complete. It makes sense only if you are focused on the lowest possible purchase price.
- Preferred: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it adds meaningful everyday upgrades, including more safety tech, keyless entry, heated mirrors, and extra cabin convenience. If you want the sweet spot between price and equipment, this is the trim to target.
- Preferred Trend: This is the one to consider if you want the Preferred’s value with a more upscale feel, since the Trend Package adds a sunroof and other upper-trim-style features.
- N Line: Choose this if you want the sportier appearance and the more distinctive wheel design, along with the extra visual flair that comes with the N Line treatment.
- Luxury: This trim is aimed at shoppers who want a more premium feel, including the larger wheels and higher-end equipment that move the Tucson closer to a near-luxury experience.
- Ultimate: This is the top-end choice if you want the most fully equipped Tucson and are willing to pay for the most complete feature set.
The safety package is especially comprehensive, so even lower trims are worth considering if they have the features you need.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Hyundai Tucson?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 30.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 493 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 14.06% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $22,755 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2022 Hyundai Tucson's resale value?
The current average of $22,812 CAD sits slightly below last year's $26,545 CAD.
That price movement suggests the Tucson has become more accessible for used buyers, which can make it easier to move later if you price it competitively. For a future seller, the softer market means you may need to be realistic on asking price to attract attention quickly. Strong equipment, broad appeal, and family-friendly practicality should still help support demand.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2022 Hyundai Tucson safe?
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
The Hyundai SmartSense Safety Feature suite includes standard forward collision-avoidance assist, lane-keeping assist, automatic high beams, a driver attention monitor, and rear occupant alert. Cyclist and pedestrian detection is added at the Preferred grade, and available upgrades include blind-spot warning with collision avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic alert with collision avoidance assist, safe exit warning, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, a surround-view camera system, parking collision avoidance assist, and remote parking assist.
Should I buy a 2022 Hyundai Tucson or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2022 if:
- 30.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 14.06% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2022 model year marks the redesigned Tucson, bringing a larger body, more cargo and passenger space, and a high-tech cabin.
The bottom line: If you want the redesigned Tucson with more space, stronger tech, and a better value position than it had a year ago, the 2022 is the one to target. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can also use the softer market to shop patiently and focus on well-equipped examples that land near the low end of the range.
