Is the 2022 Hyundai Tucson a good car?

Yes — the 4.82/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction, and the expert rating is 8.33/10. The model scores 9/10 across Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise the smooth ride, excellent safety features, stylish design, comfort, and spacious interior. That lines up well with the Tucson’s practical family-vehicle role in the compact SUV class, especially if you want extra room without moving up to a larger SUV. The main trade-offs owners mention are modest engine power and a wish for more cargo space or larger cupholders.

With 32.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still meaningful value in the market if you shop carefully.

Is the 2022 Hyundai Tucson reliable?

Owners rate it 4.82/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with many drivers describing the Tucson as a vehicle they are happy to count on. The expert assessment also supports that impression by describing the powertrain as competent and the overall package as well-rounded, even if it is not especially exciting.

Hyundai’s 5-year/100,000-kilometre limited warranty adds another layer of reassurance for used buyers, but you should still check service records and confirm the vehicle has been maintained on schedule.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Hyundai Tucson?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base model is well equipped, but higher grades add useful comfort and convenience features such as roof rails, heated outside mirrors, blind-spot monitoring indicators, keyless entry, and a sunroof with the Trend Package. If you want the most complete everyday setup, the Preferred with Trend Package is the value-focused step up to compare carefully.
• Powertrain: You can choose between a 2.5-litre direct-injected four-cylinder with an eight-speed automatic and a hybrid powertrain built around a turbocharged 1.6-litre four-cylinder and an electric motor with a six-speed transmission. The gas engine is competent but not especially lively, while the hybrid is the stronger and more efficient option.
• Safety package: Hyundai SmartSense includes standard forward collision-avoidance assist, lane-keeping assist, automatic high beams, a driver attention monitor, and rear occupant alert. Cyclist and pedestrian detection is added at the Preferred grade, and additional features such as blind-spot warning with collision avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic alert with collision avoidance assist, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, and a surround-view camera system are available.
• Infotainment: Standard equipment includes an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, HD Radio, and two USB ports. Higher trims can add a 10.25-inch touchscreen, navigation, satellite radio, Blue Link mobile app compatibility, and a fully digital instrument cluster.
• Fuel efficiency: The front-wheel-drive gas model is targeted at 8.2 L/100 km combined, while the all-wheel-drive gas model is targeted at 9.0 L/100 km combined. The hybrid is rated at 6.4 L/100 km combined.

Which 2022 Hyundai Tucson trim should I buy?

The 2022 Hyundai Tucson is offered in 5 trim levels: Essential, Preferred, Preferred with Trend Package, N-Line, Luxury, and Ultimate.

Here's the short version:

• Essential: This is the entry point if you want the lowest-cost way into the redesigned Tucson. It gives you the core cabin, safety, and infotainment setup, but it leaves out some of the convenience upgrades that make the higher trims easier to live with.
• Preferred: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds several meaningful upgrades, including satellite radio, Blue Link mobile app compatibility, rear air vents, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a fully digital instrument cluster. It also unlocks more safety content, including cyclist and pedestrian detection.
• Preferred with Trend Package: This is the trim to target if you want the strongest mix of value and equipment. The package adds many upper-trim features for less than moving all the way up the lineup, including a sunroof and other comfort-focused upgrades.
• N-Line: Choose this if you want the sportier appearance and the ICE-powered model with 19-inch alloy wheels and sport combination seats. It is more about style and presentation than a major mechanical change.
• Luxury: This is the hybrid trim to consider if you want the more powerful and more efficient powertrain along with a more upscale equipment set.
• Ultimate: This is the top hybrid trim for shoppers who want the most complete feature content in the lineup.

The safety package is broad across the range, but some of the more advanced driver-assistance features are reserved for higher trims or available equipment.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Hyundai Tucson?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be choosy if you are patient and compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 476 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.21% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $22,755 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Hyundai Tucson's resale value?

The current average of $22,757 CAD sits slightly below last year's $26,839 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Tucson has become more accessible for used buyers, which can make it easier for a future seller to attract attention if the vehicle is priced competitively. A softer market can also mean you may need to be more deliberate about timing and presentation when it is your turn to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.82/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Hyundai Tucson safe?

The 2022 Hyundai Tucson has not been tested and rated by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) nor the National Highway Traffic Administration (NHTSA).

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Hyundai SmartSense is the named driver-assistance suite, and its standard features include forward collision-avoidance assist, lane-keeping assist, automatic high beams, a driver attention monitor, and rear occupant alert. Cyclist and pedestrian detection is added at the Preferred grade, while available upgrades include blind-spot warning with collision avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic alert with collision avoidance assist, safe exit warning, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, a surround-view camera system, forward and reverse park distance warning, parking collision avoidance assist, ultrasonic rear occupant alert, and remote parking assist.

That is a very comprehensive safety list for a compact SUV, and it is one of the Tucson’s strongest selling points for used shoppers.

Should I buy a 2022 Hyundai Tucson or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.21% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.82/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The redesign gives you a larger, more practical cabin with a high-tech feel and a strong safety and equipment story.

The bottom line: The 2022 Tucson is the right pick if you want the redesigned model year and you value space, comfort, and features over outright performance. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare listings closely and wait for a well-priced example, but the 2022 remains the key year to target for the new-generation Tucson experience.
