Is the 2022 Honda Odyssey a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Honda Odyssey earns a 4.7/5 user rating and a 7/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Form and function and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its comfort, spaciousness, and driving experience, and many also highlight its family-friendly versatility on long trips. In use, that lines up with the Odyssey’s practical cabin layout and easy loading, which make it a strong fit if you want minivan utility without giving up a pleasant drive.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Honda Odyssey?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Touring trim adds features that lower trims miss, including blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, CabinWatch, CabinTalk, navigation, a rear entertainment system, and a premium audio setup. If you want the most complete family-hauling experience, Touring is the best-value choice.
• Powertrain: Every Odyssey uses a 3.5-litre V6 with a 10-speed automatic and front-wheel drive. There is no all-wheel drive or electrified option, so efficiency and winter traction are more limited than some rivals.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard and includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centring assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and a rear-seat reminder. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are only on Touring.
• Infotainment: Starting with EX-L Navi, you get an 8-inch touchscreen, satellite radio, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Touring adds navigation, HondaLink connected services, WiFi hotspot access, CabinWatch, CabinTalk, and a 10.2-inch rear entertainment screen.
• Fuel efficiency: The Odyssey is rated at 10.6 L/100 km in combined driving, and the test route returned 10.4 L/100 km.

Which 2022 Honda Odyssey trim should I buy?

The 2022 Honda Odyssey is offered in 3 trim levels: EX-L Navi, EX-L Res, Touring.

Here's the short version:

• EX-L Navi: This is the entry point for the stronger infotainment setup, with the 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, satellite radio, and navigation. It makes sense if you want the core Odyssey experience without stretching to the top trim.
• EX-L Res: This trim is aimed at families who want rear-seat entertainment without moving all the way up to Touring. It adds more of the kid-friendly convenience that makes long trips easier.
• Touring: This is the most complete version and the best-value trim if you want the Odyssey at its most family-friendly. It adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, CabinWatch, CabinTalk, the rear entertainment system, HondaLink, and the premium audio system.

Honda Sensing is standard across the lineup, but blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are reserved for Touring.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Honda Odyssey?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay patient.

• Deal availability: 35.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 137 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.30% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $37,537 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Honda Odyssey's resale value?

The current average of $37,537 CAD sits slightly below last year's $40,935 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the Odyssey has moved into a more buyer-friendly phase, which can make it easier for future sellers to attract attention if they price competitively. The current market also shows that shoppers still value this model’s family practicality and driving appeal, which helps support demand.

If the Odyssey continues to hold its strong reputation for comfort and versatility, that should help it remain appealing on the used market. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Honda Odyssey safe?

The 2022 Honda Odyssey earns an overall five-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and a Top Safety Pick+ rating from Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard on all trims and includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centring assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and a rear-seat reminder system. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are only available on Touring.

One caveat is that the system can react too sharply or too abruptly in some situations, and the blind-spot warning light placement is less intuitive than it should be.

Should I buy a 2022 Honda Odyssey or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 35.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.30% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It keeps the Odyssey’s familiar, enjoyable driving character without changes.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $37,318 CAD, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $37,537 CAD average.
• It is a family-focused minivan that simplifies daily life and adds useful practicality.

The bottom line: If you want the current-year Odyssey with a strong mix of value, satisfaction, and market availability, the 2022 is the safer default choice. If you are price-sensitive and want to save a little money, the 2021 is worth a look.
