Used 2021 Honda Odyssey for SaleNationwide

Is the 2021 Honda Odyssey a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Honda Odyssey earns 4.8/5 from owners and 7.83/10 from experts. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its space, safety features, and family-oriented equipment, along with good drivability. That lines up well with the Odyssey’s role as a family-focused minivan built to make daily life easier, with easy loading and practical versatility for passengers and cargo. It remains a strong fit if you want a vehicle designed around family use rather than flash. 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still some worthwhile opportunities in the market.

Is the 2021 Honda Odyssey reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels reliable, dependable, and well suited to long-term family use, with praise for its trouble-free family usefulness and everyday practicality. The expert assessment also describes the Odyssey as a familiar, proven minivan recipe with smooth, effortless power and a drivetrain that is identical to the previous model year. Honda also says the first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the core formula and more about making sure the vehicle has been maintained properly and that its family-use features still work as intended.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Honda Odyssey?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base trims get standard LED headlights with automatic high-beam operation, while the Touring trim adds a more upscale look with perforated leather upholstery, contrast stitching and piping, ambient lighting, and new 19-inch wheels.
• Powertrain: You get a 3.5-litre V6 with a 10-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. It delivers smooth, effortless power, uses variable cylinder management, and includes Normal, Sport, Eco, and Snow driving modes.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard and includes adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, pedestrian braking, road-sign recognition, and a dashboard menu button for ADAS settings. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic warning still requires the Touring trim.
• Infotainment: The standard setup is an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, satellite radio, HD Radio, text-messaging support, basic HondaLink connectivity, and a Cabin Control smartphone app. EX-L Navi and Touring add navigation, and Touring adds CabinWatch, CabinTalk, wireless smartphone charging, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada says it should use 10.6 L/100 km in combined driving, and the test loop returned 10.8 L/100 km.

Which 2021 Honda Odyssey trim should I buy?

The 2021 Honda Odyssey is offered in 4 trim levels: EX-RES, EX-L Navi, EX-L RES, and Touring.

Here's the short version:

• EX-RES: This is the entry point if you want the Odyssey’s core family-friendly package and rear-seat entertainment without paying for the upper-trim extras.
• EX-L Navi: Choose this if you want navigation added to the mix and prefer a more convenience-focused setup.
• EX-L RES: This is the better pick if you want the rear-seat entertainment system but do not need the Touring trim’s extra luxury and tech.
• Touring: This is the best-value trim if you want the most complete Odyssey experience, with the upscale interior touches, CabinWatch, CabinTalk, wireless charging, Wi-Fi hotspot capability, premium audio, and the added safety equipment that includes blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic warning.

The Touring trim is also the one that gets the extra safety equipment not found on the lower trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Honda Odyssey?

This looks like a moderate, selective-buyer market, so it makes sense to shop carefully and compare condition, mileage, and equipment.

• Deal availability: 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 93 listings available.

Is the 2021 Honda Odyssey safe?

The 2021 Honda Odyssey should once again earn a Top Safety Pick recommendation from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), and it earns five-star ratings for every crash test assessment aside from rollover resistance, for which it earns a four-star score.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard and now includes low-speed follow capability for adaptive cruise control, pedestrian braking, road-sign recognition, and a dashboard menu button for quick ADAS access. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic warning is still reserved for the Touring trim.

One caveat is that the ADAS can feel a little abrupt at times, especially with adaptive cruise control and lane-departure warning behaviour.

Should I buy a 2021 Honda Odyssey or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds upgraded safety tech, improved infotainment, and refreshed styling.

Consider the 2022 if:

• Honda makes no changes, so you get the same driving character and original recipe approach.

The bottom line: The 2021 is the better pick if you want the refreshed safety and technology updates without moving away from the Odyssey’s proven family-first formula. If you are price-sensitive, the 2022 is worth a look because it keeps the same core strengths, but the 2021’s updates make it the more compelling buy when the price difference is small.
