What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Kia Carnival?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: LX and LX+ use the standard grille and 17-inch wheels, while EX adds 19-inch machined-finish wheels, simulated open-pore wood trim, SynTex simulated leather, and a more upscale grille. SX adds black wheels, textured metal dashboard trim, real leather, and VIP Lounge Seats, so it is the one to inspect if you want the most premium cabin.
• Powertrain: Every Carnival uses a 3.5-litre V6 with 290 horsepower and an eight-speed automatic. There is no all-wheel drive and no electrified powertrain option, so you should focus on whether the front-wheel-drive setup and towing needs fit your use case.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure and keeping assistance, rear parking sensors, a driver monitoring system, and a reversing camera with dynamic parking guidance lines. EX adds front parking sensors, active blind-spot and rear cross-traffic warning with collision avoidance, active rear cross-traffic warning, and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability. EX+ adds navigation-based adaptive cruise control, a surround-view camera system, and Blind View Monitor.
• Infotainment: LX has an 8-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and six speakers. EX+ brings a 12.3-inch widescreen infotainment system with navigation, wireless smartphone charging, UVO Link connected services, and eight speakers, while EX+ and SX also get a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada says the Carnival should use 10.6 L/100 km in combined driving, and the test vehicle averaged 10.8 L/100 km.

Which 2022 Kia Carnival trim should I buy?

The 2022 Kia Carnival is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, LX+, EX, EX+, and SX.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Carnival’s core space, styling, and standard safety equipment, plus the 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model and do not need the extra convenience features.
• LX+: This trim keeps the same basic formula but adds wireless smartphone charging in Canada, making it a sensible step up if that convenience matters to you.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the more upscale grille, larger wheels, SynTex simulated leather, front parking sensors, blind-spot and rear cross-traffic collision avoidance, and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go. It is the trim where the Carnival starts to feel meaningfully more premium.
• EX+: Choose this if you want the big technology jump, including the 12.3-inch widescreen infotainment system, navigation, the surround-view camera system, Blind View Monitor, and the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. It is the sweet spot for tech-focused buyers.
• SX: This is the most luxurious version, with real leather, black wheels, textured metal trim, VIP Lounge Seats, and the 12-speaker Bose audio system. It suits you best if you want the most upscale Carnival experience.

Safe Exit Assist is included on EX and up, while EX+ and SX add the most advanced camera-based safety features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Kia Carnival?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some confidence if you are willing to compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 25.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 111 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.67% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $30,125 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Kia Carnival's resale value?

The current average of $30,135 CAD sits slightly below last year's $35,732 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Carnival has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can be helpful if you are buying used but less ideal if you plan to sell soon. If prices continue to stabilise, future sellers may see a slower rate of decline than the first-year drop suggests.

The model’s strong owner satisfaction should help support demand, especially among shoppers who value space, comfort, and technology in a family vehicle. That said, resale strength will still depend on trim, condition, and whether the vehicle’s styling appeals to the next buyer.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2022 Kia Carnival or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 25.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.67% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines distinctive styling with strong technology and VIP-style passenger seating.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $33,826 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $30,135 CAD average.
• It makes the minivan formula feel more stylish while keeping the same practical sliding-door layout.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the better value if you want the Carnival’s space, comfort, and tech at a lower used price. If you are willing to pay more for a newer model year, the 2023 is the cleaner choice for buyers who want the same basic formula with a slightly fresher presentation.
