Summary

Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2022 Genesis G70 5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.5 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2022 Genesis G70 stands out as a refreshed luxury sport sedan that is built to compete with the world’s best in the segment. For this model year, it gets new styling, an improved infotainment system, and a new driver-assistance feature called Highway Driving Assist. Genesis also repackages the model lineup for the 2022 Genesis G70, while the six-speed manual gearbox is cancelled.
What makes the 2022 Genesis G70 appealing is that it combines a distinctive design theme with a more focused luxury-car identity. The available owner feedback reinforces that impression, with praise for its comfort, sleek design, outstanding performance, high-quality interior, and excellent sound system. At the same time, some owners point to cramped backseat space and poor mileage, so it is best suited to buyers who value style, driving enjoyment, and cabin quality over rear-seat room and fuel economy.

Incredible performance and technology in a car that doesn’t look like everything else on the road! I had a C300 4matic which was nice but the ride wasn’t great and the maintenance costs were astronomical.

The car and trim level I purchased is phenomenal. It’s fast, it’s sleek, it’s comfortable, it’s technologically advanced, and most of all, it’s extremely safe. I was hit by an 18-wheeler and walked away - I therefore purchased a brand new one to replace it with!

Is the 2022 Genesis G70 a good car?
Yes — the 2022 Genesis G70 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating.
The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Cost effectiveness, and Safety.
Owners consistently praise its comfort, sleek design, outstanding performance, high-quality interior, and excellent sound system. That lines up well with the G70’s use case as a compact luxury sport sedan for you if you value style, driving enjoyment, and cabin quality. The market also shows 32.9% good or great deals, which adds to its appeal for shoppers comparing value across listings.
Is the 2022 Genesis G70 reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with repeated praise for comfort, performance, and overall satisfaction. The expert evaluation also highlights five years of warranty protection, complimentary connected services, and scheduled maintenance, which can help reduce early ownership stress. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a well-equipped luxury sport sedan can still bring higher repair exposure if it has been neglected or driven hard.
What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Genesis G70?
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The 2.0T line starts with Select and moves up to Advanced and Prestige, while the 3.3T line includes Advanced, Sport, and Launch Edition. Base equipment is already strong, but higher trims add more luxury and convenience features.
- Powertrain: You can choose a turbocharged 2.0-litre inline four-cylinder with 252 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, or a twin-turbocharged 3.3-litre V6 with 365 hp and 376 lb-ft of torque. All-wheel drive is standard, and the eight-speed automatic is the only transmission.
- Safety package: Every G70 includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane-centring assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear-seat reminder, Safe Exit Assist, and Highway Driving Assist. A high-definition 360-degree camera system is also available.
- Infotainment: The 10.25-inch touchscreen includes navigation, satellite radio, over-the-air software updates, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. CarPlay and Android Auto require a wired connection, not wireless.
- Fuel efficiency: The 3.3T is rated at 11.5 litres per 100 kilometres in combined driving.
Which 2022 Genesis G70 trim should I buy?
The 2022 Genesis G70 is offered in 6 trim levels: Select, Advanced, Prestige, Advanced, Sport, Launch Edition.
Here's the short version:
- Select: This is the entry point for the 2.0T line, so it makes sense if you want the G70’s core luxury-sedan experience at the lowest starting point.
- Advanced: This trim appears in both engine families, so it is the most useful stepping stone if you want more equipment without jumping straight to the top end.
- Prestige: Choose this if you want the most upscale version of the 2.0T lineup and are willing to pay for the added luxury focus.
- Sport: This is the closest match to the fully loaded test vehicle and the best-value choice if you want the strongest blend of performance and equipment.
- Launch Edition: This is the most exclusive specification mentioned, but it is no longer available.
Every G70 includes the standard Highway Driving Assist safety package, so even the lower trims start with a strong driver-assistance foundation.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Genesis G70?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.
- Deal availability: 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 73 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 19.12% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $30,947 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2022 Genesis G70's resale value?
The current average of $31,021 CAD sits slightly below last year's $38,355 CAD.
That drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the G70 more attractive to used buyers today. For a future seller, it also means your resale outcome will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim appeal rather than broad market momentum alone. Well-kept examples with desirable equipment should still draw interest, especially given the model’s strong reputation for style and performance.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2022 Genesis G70 safe?
The 2022 Genesis G70 earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS, but its headlights are rated Marginal.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Every G70 comes with adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane-centring assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear-seat reminder, Safe Exit Assist, and Highway Driving Assist. The standard Highway Driving Assist system combines adaptive cruise control with lane-centring assist and is especially useful on long drives. A high-definition 360-degree camera system also helps when parking.
The main caveat is the headlight result, which keeps the car from reaching the higher IIHS designation.
Should I buy a 2022 Genesis G70 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2022 if:
- 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 19.12% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It adds refreshed styling, improved infotainment, and Highway Driving Assist.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $37,506 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $31,021 CAD average.
- It carries over unchanged after the 2022 update.
The bottom line: If you want the better value proposition, the 2022 is the smarter buy because it delivers the refreshed design and feature set at a lower average price. If you are price-sensitive and want the strongest deal potential, the 2022 is the clear starting point; if you prefer a newer model-year badge and are willing to pay more, the 2023 remains a straightforward carryover choice.
