What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Genesis G70?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup starts with 2.0T Select and moves up through Advanced and Prestige, while 3.3T models include Advanced, Sport, and Launch Edition. The base equipment is already strong, but higher trims add more luxury and exclusivity.
• Powertrain: You can choose a turbocharged 2.0-litre inline four-cylinder with 252 horsepower, or a twin-turbocharged 3.3-litre V6 with 365 hp. All-wheel drive is standard, and the eight-speed automatic is the only transmission.
• Safety package: Every G70 includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane-centring assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear-seat reminder, Safe Exit Assist, and Highway Driving Assist. A high-definition 360-degree camera system is also included.
• Infotainment: You get a 10.25-inch touchscreen, navigation, satellite radio, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, over-the-air software updates, wireless smartphone charging, and available Android digital key support. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto require a wired connection.
• Fuel efficiency: The 3.3T returns 11.5 L/100 km in combined driving, according to official Natural Resources Canada ratings.

Which 2022 Genesis G70 trim should I buy?

The 2022 Genesis G70 is offered in 6 trim levels: 2.0T Select, 2.0T Advanced, 2.0T Prestige, 3.3T Advanced, 3.3T Sport, and 3.3T Launch Edition.

Here's the short version:

• 2.0T Select: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core G70 experience with the standard luxury and safety equipment. It makes sense if you want the most accessible way into the lineup.
• 2.0T Advanced: This is the best-value choice if you want a stronger mix of equipment and price. It builds on the base trim without pushing you into the more expensive V6 models.
• 2.0T Prestige: Choose this if you want a more upscale feel and are willing to pay for extra comfort and convenience features.
• 3.3T Advanced: This is the right pick if you want the V6 powertrain and a more performance-focused character without jumping straight to the top trim.
• 3.3T Sport: This is the best choice for shoppers who want the strongest all-around package, with the V6 and the most complete equipment mix.
• 3.3T Launch Edition: This is the most exclusive version, but it is no longer available, so it mainly matters if you find one on the used market.

Every trim includes the standard Highway Driving Assist safety package.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Genesis G70?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and pricing softness to reward careful shopping.

• Deal availability: 23.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 85 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.55% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $31,054 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Genesis G70's resale value?

The current average of $31,193 CAD sits slightly below last year's $36,507 CAD.

That price drop suggests the market has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price. If you purchase near the current average or below, you may have less downside left than someone who bought when prices were higher. Strong value positioning can also help keep buyer interest steady when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Genesis G70 safe?

The 2022 G70 earns high marks from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, but its headlights are rated Marginal, which keeps it from earning a Top Safety Pick rating.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Every G70 comes with adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane-centring assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear-seat reminder, Safe Exit Assist, Highway Driving Assist, and a high-definition 360-degree camera system.

The main caveat is that the headlight result is a weak spot, so you should pay close attention to lighting performance if you do a lot of night driving.

Should I buy a 2022 Genesis G70 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 23.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.55% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds refreshed styling, an improved infotainment system, and Highway Driving Assist.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $37,016 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $31,193 CAD average.
• It carries over unchanged.

The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2022 is the smarter buy because it delivers the refreshed design and tech update at a lower average price. If you prefer a newer model-year example and do not mind paying more, the 2023 is the simpler choice.
