What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Genesis G70?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup starts with 2.0T Select and moves up to Advanced and Prestige, while 3.3T models offer Advanced, Sport, and Launch Edition grades. The base equipment is already strong, but higher trims add more luxury and convenience features. The Launch Edition is no longer available, so the closest match is the 3.3T Sport.
• Powertrain: You can choose a turbocharged 2.0-litre inline four-cylinder with 252 horsepower or a twin-turbocharged 3.3-litre V6 with 365 hp. All-wheel drive is standard in Canada, and the eight-speed automatic is the only transmission.
• Safety package: Every G70 includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane-centring assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear-seat reminder, Safe Exit Assist, and Highway Driving Assist. A high-definition 360-degree camera system is also included. The standard suite is broad, but the headlights keep the car from earning a Top Safety Pick rating.
• Infotainment: You get a 10.25-inch touchscreen, over-the-air software updates, navigation, satellite radio, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. CarPlay and Android Auto require a wired connection, not wireless.
• Fuel efficiency: The 3.3T is rated at 11.5 litres per 100 kilometres in combined driving.

Which 2022 Genesis G70 trim should I buy?

The 2022 Genesis G70 is offered in 6 trim levels: 2.0T Select, 2.0T Advanced, 2.0T Prestige, 3.3T Advanced, 3.3T Sport, and 3.3T Launch Edition.

Here's the short version:

• 2.0T Select: This is the entry point if you want the G70’s styling, standard all-wheel drive, and strong safety equipment at the lowest price. It makes the most sense if you care more about value than maximum power.
• 2.0T Advanced: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it builds on the base car with more comfort and convenience while keeping the lower-cost 2.0-litre engine.
• 2.0T Prestige: Choose this if you want the most upscale version of the four-cylinder model and are willing to pay for extra luxury touches.
• 3.3T Advanced: This is the right pick if you want the V6’s stronger performance without jumping all the way to the most expensive trim.
• 3.3T Sport: This is the trim to target if you want the best mix of performance and equipment, and it is the closest match to the discontinued Launch Edition.
• 3.3T Launch Edition: This was the most exclusive version, but it is no longer available, so you should focus on the 3.3T Sport instead.

Every trim includes the same broad safety package, including Highway Driving Assist.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Genesis G70?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it pays to compare listings carefully and move quickly on strong examples.

• Deal availability: 28.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 82 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.42% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $31,059 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Genesis G70's resale value?

The current average of $31,083 CAD sits slightly below last year's $35,901 CAD.

That drop suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it also means sellers may need to price more competitively to stand out. If you plan to sell later, the current softness could limit upside unless your car is especially well equipped or exceptionally clean. On the other hand, the model’s strong owner satisfaction should help support demand when it’s time to list.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Genesis G70 safe?

The 2022 Genesis G70 earns high marks from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, but its headlights are rated Marginal, which keeps it from earning a Top Safety Pick rating.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Genesis equips every G70 with adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane-centring assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear-seat reminder, Safe Exit Assist, Highway Driving Assist, and a high-definition 360-degree camera system. The main caveat is the headlight result, which is the key safety shortcoming to keep in mind.

Should I buy a 2022 Genesis G70 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 28.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.42% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 update brings new styling, an improved infotainment system, and Highway Driving Assist.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $36,516 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $31,083 CAD average.
• It carries over unchanged with the same basic formula and standard all-wheel drive.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the better buy if you want the refreshed design and stronger value. If you’re price-sensitive, it makes the most sense to focus on the 2022; if you want a newer model year and don’t mind paying more, the 2023 is the straightforward alternative.
