Used 2022 GMC Terrain for Sale nearOttawa, ON

How much does the 2022 GMC Terrain cost?

Prices have softened 14.16% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 362 listings available, which gives you a useful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 GMC Terrain a good car?

Yes — the 2022 GMC Terrain earns a 4.8/5 user rating and a 6.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.

Drivers consistently praise its comfort, smooth driving experience, and how well it handles in snowy conditions, especially with all-wheel drive. The user feedback also points to safety features and everyday usability as recurring positives, along with wireless smartphone integration. On the trade-off side, the expert review calls out sluggish performance and poor value for money, while also noting that the interior materials feel cheap.

For you, that means the Terrain makes the most sense if you want a comfortable, easy-to-live-with compact SUV rather than something that feels especially quick or upscale. It is a better fit if you value convenience and winter confidence over outright polish. Good and great deals account for 33.7% of listings, which suggests there are still some worthwhile opportunities in the market.

Is the 2022 GMC Terrain reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback highlights dependable everyday comfort, strong winter confidence, and a trouble-free feel that helps the Terrain come across as a vehicle you can count on. The expert review also describes the powertrain as settled and effective once you learn how to keep it in its torque band, which supports the impression of a predictable daily driver. The available maintenance perk language is not present in the source data.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright durability and more about whether you can live with the Terrain’s modest performance and lower-value feel over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 GMC Terrain?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SLE and SLT are more affordable, while the SLT adds standard front-wheel drive and the Denali adds a layer of luxury. The AT4 brings a bolder grille, black 17-inch alloy wheels, sport-terrain tyres, and a steel front skid plate, but the review makes clear that its rugged look outpaces its actual off-road ability.
• Powertrain: Every 2022 Terrain uses a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder with 170 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic. It can feel delayed off the line, and the AT4 can be run in FWD or AWD, with Off-Road mode and Hill Descent Control available when needed.
• Safety package: Every model gets GMC Pro Safety Package equipment, including forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and a following distance indicator. GMC Pro Safety Plus Package adds adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-change assist, rear parking sensors, and a Safety Alert Seat; it is standard on Denali.
• Infotainment: SLE trim gets a 7-inch touchscreen, while SLT, AT4, and Denali use an 8-inch high-definition touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and the larger screen can be paired with connected navigation, natural voice recognition, and a Bose premium sound system.
• Fuel efficiency: The official Natural Resources Canada rating is 9.6 litres per 100 kilometres in the city, 8.3 highway, and 9.0 combined with AWD.

Which 2022 GMC Terrain trim should I buy?

The 2022 GMC Terrain is offered in 4 trim levels: SLE, SLT, AT4, Denali.

Here's the short version:

• SLE: This is the entry point, and it gives you the standard 7-inch touchscreen plus the core safety package. It makes sense if you want the Terrain experience at the lowest cost.
• SLT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the larger 8-inch touchscreen and can be had with standard front-wheel drive to help keep costs down. It is the sweet spot if you want more convenience without moving all the way up the range.
• AT4: Choose this if you want the rugged styling, standard all-wheel drive, sport-terrain tyres, and skid plate. Just keep in mind that the off-road image is stronger than the actual capability.
• Denali: This is the luxury-leaning choice, and it comes standard with the GMC Pro Safety Plus Package. It suits you best if you want the most upscale Terrain configuration.

The safety-package note to remember is that GMC Pro Safety Plus is optional on SLE, SLT, and AT4, but standard on Denali.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 GMC Terrain?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 362 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.16% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $24,070 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 GMC Terrain's resale value?

The current average of $24,070 CAD sits slightly below last year's $28,041 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Terrain has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future sellers if the market stabilizes. If you buy at the current average or below, you may have less downside left than someone who bought when prices were higher. The softer pricing also means resale will depend heavily on condition, trim, and equipment rather than on broad market momentum alone.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 GMC Terrain safe?

The 2022 GMC Terrain earns mostly “Good” crash-test scores from the IIHS, but it receives a “Marginal” rating in the new side-impact test.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Every 2022 Terrain comes standard with GMC Pro Safety Package, which includes forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and a following distance indicator. GMC Pro Safety Plus Package adds adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-change assist, rear parking sensors, and a Safety Alert Seat; it is standard on Denali and optional on SLE, SLT, and AT4.

The main caveat is that the IIHS side-impact result is weaker than the rest of the crash-test picture, and a lane-centring function is not available.

Should I buy a 2022 GMC Terrain or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.16% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 adds the AT4 trim, which gives the Terrain a more rugged look and standard all-wheel drive.

The bottom line: If you want the Terrain with the newest styling and the AT4’s tougher appearance, the 2022 is the one to target. If you are mainly shopping on price, a nearby model year may be the better path, especially if you can find a cleaner example with similar equipment for less.

How does the 2022 GMC Terrain compare to the 2022 Chevrolet Equinox?

Our experts score the 2022 GMC Terrain 6.7/10 and the 2022 Chevrolet Equinox 6.8/10. The two SUVs are closely matched, but the Equinox edges ahead on expert score, fuel consumption, and average used price. The Terrain counters with a more rugged image, the AT4 trim, and a stronger emphasis on style and attitude. If you want the more affordable and slightly more efficient choice, the Equinox has the advantage; if you prefer the GMC’s look and available AT4 character, the Terrain is the one to consider.
