Used 2022 GMC Terrain for Sale near Ontario

How much does the 2022 GMC Terrain cost?

Prices have softened 13.18% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 356 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory for you to compare.

Is the 2022 GMC Terrain a good car?

Yes — the 2022 GMC Terrain earns a 4.83/5 user rating and a 6.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise the comfortable ride, smooth driving experience, and easy-to-use technology, and they also like how it handles in snowy conditions, especially with all-wheel drive. The user feedback also points to a vehicle that feels reliable and dependable for everyday use, with owners describing it as a model they can count on over the long term.

The trade-offs are clear: performance is sluggish, the interior materials feel cheap, and the push-button transmission can be less convenient than a traditional shifter. In practical terms, the Terrain makes the most sense if you want a comfortable compact crossover with useful tech and winter-friendly manners rather than a quick or especially upscale SUV.

With 30.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room for value-minded shoppers to find a worthwhile example.

Is the 2022 GMC Terrain reliable?

Owners rate it 4.83/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback highlights the Terrain as reliable, dependable, and a vehicle owners feel comfortable counting on over time. The expert evaluation also notes that the powertrain meets expectations for fuel economy and that the nine-speed automatic does a decent job of keeping the engine in its torque band once the SUV is rolling.

The Terrain’s ownership risk for used buyers is less about outright durability and more about whether you can live with its modest performance and lower-cost interior feel over the long haul.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 GMC Terrain?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SLE and SLT are the more affordable choices, while the SLT adds standard front-wheel drive and the Denali brings a layer of luxury. The AT4 adds a bolder grille, black 17-inch alloy wheels, sport-terrain tyres, and a steel front skid plate, but its rugged look outpaces its real off-road ability.
• Powertrain: Every 2022 Terrain uses a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine with 170 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic. It can be had with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, and the AT4 can also use an Off-Road mode and Hill Descent Control.
• Safety package: Every model gets GMC Pro Safety with forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and a following distance indicator. GMC Pro Safety Plus adds adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-change assist, rear parking sensors, and a Safety Alert Seat; it is standard on Denali and optional on SLE, SLT, and AT4.
• Infotainment: SLE trims use a 7-inch touchscreen, while SLT, AT4, and Denali get an 8-inch high-definition screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and the larger screen can be paired with connected navigation, natural voice recognition, and a Bose premium sound system.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert evaluation says the Terrain AT4 returned 9.6 L/100 km in the city, 8.3 L/100 km on the highway, and 9.0 L/100 km combined with AWD.

Which 2022 GMC Terrain trim should I buy?

The 2022 GMC Terrain is offered in 4 trim levels: SLE, SLT, AT4, Denali.

Here's the short version:

• SLE: This is the value-focused starting point if you want the Terrain’s comfort, standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and full GMC Pro Safety without paying for extra luxury or appearance upgrades.
• SLT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a more upscale feel and, according to the expert evaluation, comes with standard front-wheel drive to help keep costs down while still leaving all-wheel drive available if you want it.
• AT4: Choose this if you want the rugged styling, standard all-wheel drive, sport-terrain tyres, and skid plate, but keep in mind that the expert review says the off-road image is stronger than the actual capability.
• Denali: This is the trim to buy if you want the most premium Terrain, since it adds a layer of luxury and comes standard with GMC Pro Safety Plus.

The safety-package gap to remember is that GMC Pro Safety Plus is standard only on Denali, while SLE, SLT, and AT4 need it as an option.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 GMC Terrain?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on a strong listing.

• Deal availability: 30.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 356 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.18% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $24,526 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 GMC Terrain's resale value?

The current average of $24,571 CAD sits slightly below last year's $28,300 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Terrain has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price today. If you purchase near the lower end of the current range, you may have less downside exposure than someone who paid closer to the high point. The flip side is that the Terrain’s value story depends heavily on condition, trim, and equipment, so well-kept examples with desirable features should be easier to move later.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.83/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 GMC Terrain safe?

The 2022 Terrain earns mostly “Good” crash-test scores from the IIHS, but it also receives a “Marginal” rating in the new side-impact test.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Every 2022 Terrain comes with GMC Pro Safety, which includes forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, automatic high-beam headlights, and a following distance indicator. GMC Pro Safety Plus adds adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-change assist, rear parking sensors, and a Safety Alert Seat, and it is standard on Denali.

The main caveat is that the Terrain does not have a lane-centring function, and the IIHS side-impact result is weaker than the rest of its crash-test performance.

Should I buy a 2022 GMC Terrain or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 30.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.18% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.83/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 adds the new AT4 model, which gives you standard all-wheel drive, sport-terrain tyres, and a steel front skid plate.

The bottom line: If you want the Terrain with the newest styling and the AT4’s rugged appearance, the 2022 is the year to target. If you are more price-sensitive, you can still shop carefully and focus on well-priced SLE or SLT examples, especially if you value comfort, winter traction, and easy-to-use tech over performance.
