Is the 2022 Chevrolet Equinox a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Chevrolet Equinox earns a 4.8/5 user rating and a 6.8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 8/10. Owners consistently praise its comfort, fuel efficiency, spaciousness, and smooth ride, and they also like the modern-feeling features. In practical terms, that makes it a sensible compact crossover if you want an easygoing daily driver with a roomy cabin and useful tech. What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Chevrolet Equinox?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The RS adds black exterior trim, darkened 19-inch wheels, a black interior with red stitching, and a model-specific shift knob, while most trim levels get cloth seats as standard equipment and perforated leather upholstery is available.
• Powertrain: You get a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 170 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and standard front-wheel drive or available all-wheel drive.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian braking, forward collision warning, following distance indicator, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, and Chevy’s Teen Driver system. Optional features include adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-change alert, a surround-view camera system, front and rear park assist, and automatic parking assist.
• Infotainment: Standard equipment includes a 7-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a built-in 4G LTE WiFi hotspot. Higher trim levels get an 8-inch touchscreen and a 4.2-inch instrument-cluster screen.

Which 2022 Chevrolet Equinox trim should I buy?

The 2022 Chevrolet Equinox is offered in 4 trim levels: LS, LT, RS, Premier.

Here's the short version:

• LS: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the Equinox and are comfortable with the standard equipment set.
• LT: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it builds on the base model without pushing you into the pricier upper end of the range.
• RS: Choose this if you want the sportier appearance package, blacked-out exterior details, and a more distinctive cabin look.
• Premier: This is the trim to target if you want the most upscale version of the Equinox and are willing to pay for it.

The safety package is strong across the lineup, but some advanced driver-assistance features remain optional rather than standard.

The current average of $22,303 CAD sits slightly below last year's $25,558 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests future sellers may need to stay competitive, especially if the market continues to favour buyers. Should I buy a 2022 Chevrolet Equinox or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 37.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.74% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 adds revised styling, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and available parking-assist tech.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $24,724 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $22,303 CAD average.
• It adds a little extra engine power and a more sophisticated braking system.

The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2022 is the smarter starting point because it already brings the key tech and comfort updates. If you’re willing to spend more for a modestly improved version, the 2023 is the cleaner upgrade path.

How does the 2022 Chevrolet Equinox compare to the 2022 GMC Terrain?
