Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Subaru Forester?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on standout listings.

• Deal availability: 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 190 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.66% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $26,035 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Subaru Forester's resale value?

The current average of $26,062 CAD sits slightly below last year's $26,776 CAD.

That price movement suggests the model has softened a bit, which can be a mixed signal for future sellers. On one hand, it means you may not see rapid appreciation if you buy now. On the other hand, the Forester’s practical appeal and steady shopper interest can help support demand when it’s time to sell. If you keep mileage reasonable and maintain it well, you should be in a better position to protect value.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2021 Subaru Forester or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.66% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $28,175 CAD, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $26,062 CAD average.
• It adds the Wilderness trim for more rugged off-road capability.

The bottom line: The 2021 is the better value if you want the Forester’s core strengths at a lower price, especially if you care most about safety, space, and all-weather confidence. If you want a newer-feeling option with a tougher adventure angle and can stretch your budget, the 2022 is worth a look.
