How much does the 2018 Subaru Forester cost?

There are 257 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2018 Subaru Forester a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Subaru Forester earns a 4.8/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its spacious interior, safety features, and smooth driving experience, and many also like the comfortable seating and user-friendly technology. That lines up well with its practical, family-friendly focus, especially if you want a sensible compact SUV with good visibility and all-weather confidence. With 31.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is also a healthy share of attractive options in the market.

Is the 2018 Subaru Forester reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers, with praise centred on comfort, safety, and everyday usability. That said, some owners mention sluggish power in daily driving and a few minor issues, so a careful inspection and service-history review still matter. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the model’s core appeal and more about finding one that has been maintained properly.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Subaru Forester?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on the best-priced examples.

• Deal availability: 31.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 257 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.59% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $16,631 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Subaru Forester's resale value?

The current average of $16,631 CAD sits slightly below last year's $19,247 CAD.

That price movement suggests the model has become more accessible on the used market, which can help you buy at a lower entry point today. For a future seller, it also means resale expectations should be set with the current softer pricing in mind rather than older, higher benchmarks. Even so, the Forester’s practical reputation and broad appeal can help support demand when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Subaru Forester or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 31.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.59% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2018 Forester is a strong choice if you want a practical, spacious SUV with standard all-wheel drive and broad owner approval. If your priority is value, the 2018 makes sense because pricing has eased and there are still plenty of listings to compare. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may also want to look at nearby years for the best combination of condition, mileage, and asking price.
