The Forester’s reputation for reliability is part of its appeal, alongside its strong safety focus and standard all-wheel drive. That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favourable point, but it also means future resale will depend on how well the market holds up. The Forester’s practical layout, standard all-wheel drive, and strong safety reputation should help support demand. If you keep mileage reasonable and maintenance records organised, you should be in a better position when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2024 Subaru Forester or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.91% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $29,952 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $34,357 CAD average.
• It prioritises practicality with standard AWD and a roomy cabin.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $37,249 CAD, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $34,357 CAD average.
• It adds a quieter cabin and more advanced tech.

The bottom line: The 2024 is the best all-around choice if you want the current-year balance of price, satisfaction, and market availability. If your priority is saving money, the 2023 is the better value play; if you want newer features and can stretch your budget, the 2025 is the upgrade path.
